I am going to NYC tomorrow night and was hoping to get tickets for a Saturday matinee (Wicked, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, or Lion King, in that order of preference). I just learned that you cannot get same-day tickets at the 2-fer/discount ticket booth for a matinee (ie., must buy Saturday tickets Friday).
Anyone have connections for discount tickets, as I can’t imagine paying $300 for two tickets? Anyone getting tickets at the booth tomorrow and feel like doing a stranger a favor?
Do you mean the TKTS discount ticket booth? They’re open Saturday morning selling tickets for the Saturday matinees. You might find Hairspray tickets there, you won’t find any of the other three. Shows only provide TKTS with unsold tickets, of your list, only Hairspray fails to sell out every show of the week at full price.
Here’s a link showing what was available in the last week. It also shows the times the booth is open. Note that the booth is now on 46th St, just west of Broadway.
If you decide to go that way, expect Hairspray to be your top choice, and think of another show or two you may like, just in case it’s sold out.
If you really want to see the other shows, and don’t mind paying the price, go to the theatre 1/2 hour before showtime and ask about rush tickets. These are unclaimed or cancelled tickets that the box office sells right before showtime.
But you will have to pay for them if they are even available.
Edited to add, just do a web search on the username. He’s posted the same thing elsewhere. (The spammy bit is in the discount code; presumably there’s a kickback involved.)
