So I'm in NYC; how to get cheap Mary Poppins tix?

Just as the title suggests, Mrs. RickJay wants to see Mary Poppins. Is there s good ticket broker or window we can go to to get reasonable tix? The box office claims only orchestra seats are left.

(Or any other musical, for that matter.)

You can try the TKTS booth on 46th St. I’m not sure if Mary Poppins is ever up there, shows that sell out don’t go on TKTS, but for shows that are they are 30-50% off the face value. You can always find something good there.

You can also try the website BroadwayBox.com. Here is a link for Mary Poppins discounted tickets. ($85 for orchestra instead of $110.) You can just print out that page & take it to the box office.

TKTS is a nice option, but the very popular shows will not be on their board, since they can pretty much sell out their shows without the high discount. I don’t think Mary has been on the board, it’s too new, and is selling pretty well.

You can try StubHub.com, you’ll pay well over face value, but it looks like balcony tickets are available for $42 each ($25 face value). Personally, I don’t think I’d go for the balcony unless I was ultra-keen on seeing Mary Poppins and had no other way to get tickets. For just a few dollars more you can get good seats at TKTS for some pretty nice shows.

Cheap will be difficult, but you can often get tickets by going to your hotel concierge and asking if they have any. You’ll have to pay an extra fee, but they often can get them.

Also, even in a sold-out show, house seats (for use of members of the production) may become available. If you show up an hour or so before curtain, you may get lucky.

Not cheap, but you can try for “rush tickets.” You go an hour before the show and leave your name. If there are any unclaimed tickets at the box office, you can buy them.
