Brody the Obstreperous Puppy

It rained last night, and according to the long range forecast, we can expect rain every day for the next 10 except today. Which means we really should get the yard mowed today. Nothing I like better than mowing grass in hot, humid weather - woohoo…

Tonight, my kid and her bf are going to my mom’s to spend the night. Tomorrow is my niece’s graduation and it starts at 10AM?!?!?!?! Since we live in the boonies, we need to leave by 7:30. So the kids decided if they stayed with my mom, they could sleep in until 9. That gives me and my sweetie the house to ourselves tonight. There’s potential there - depends on how pooped we are after mowing the yard.

I’ve got a load of towels in the wash - I’m such a morning person. I’ll do some laundry till the rest of them see fit to drag out of bed, then I start cracking the whip. There’s a bunch of stuff that needs to be loaded on the trailer for a dump run. And there’s the mowing. And it’d be nice of someone gathered the big branches that fell in the storm the other night, though that may take a lower priority. I’ll get a few hours work outta them, whatever we decide to do.

I’ve learned this weekend that the current bf is not nearly as helpful as the past bfs. He’s a nice enough kid - just not interested in manual labor. Not even to impress his gfs parents. Something wrong with that boy, by golly…

Happy Saturday!

OK…I can’t resist:

in bed.<snerk>

Tee hee.

That is a good one, Ashes.

I’m up early because I wanted to be sure to get a shower in and save up some water since the neighborhood got flyers yesterday saying the city would be working on water lines today and there was a possibility that we’d lose water sometime between 7 and 3.

From what I can tell, they’re not even out there yet, but I’m clean and the tub is filled with water and I have a few containers in the kitchen filled as well. I’ll be off to admire my nephew’s T-ball prowess soon, so I’ll miss most of the potential water-free time.

Oh - real-time update - loud noise just started, so I just peeked out the door and there’s water running down the street… I guess they ARE here.

Really liked your family story in the cool ancestors thread FCM.

Off to clean up for a while. I have company coming over Monday night and the house…how to put this delicately?..isn’t ready.

Craft show thing today. Quasi-Daughter will definitely be here by 12:30 at the latest. (note that it’s quarter to one). After that I have work. I should hunt and kill myself a bowl of cereal or something. And drink a few litres of water before venturing outside.
I repent of complaining before. Today it’s 31C with humidex of 40. Kill me.

I’m havin’ a fun Saturday! Not. I need to work on job applications, but I’m not in the mood. I was going to go to a concert this afternoon, but I want to get this in the mail on Monday, so I have to get it done. I think I need a cup of coffee.

I think this gets the prize for most mundane and pointless post ever.

We had great fun! When my baby girl got up, she helped me load the trailer with junk that was to go to the dump. She helped me take down the various tacky bird houses and tear apart a picnic table and a rotting work table. It was sweaty work, but we got it all loaded. Then she got cleaned up and got her bf up and they took off for my mom’s. My sweetie and I went to the dump and got rid of all the stuff, then came home and showered and went out for lunch.

We’ve decided we’re not doing anything else today. I think that’s an excellent plan.

That is, indeed, an excellent plan FCM. The most excellentest of plans, even.

Bumba the reason I feed the critter and do surprises like that is so that well, ya know, he feels all melty and such and then I swoop in for the kill.

Wile E that was a work related injury! You should have had your hand all bandaged up and talked about how much it hurt you to do anything involving your hand. These things must be taken advantage of.

Today, we got haircuts, then we went and had Chinese for lunch. I have a fortune!

[color=red]Your luck is about to change for the better[/color

I was excited cause I knew I’d get a <snerk> for that one! I told ACBG I couldn’t wait to post about it. He gave me a weird look. He just doesn’t understand, poor thing.

I ordered a modem card for my laptop/notebook/whatever today. I gave up trying to find one locally and just ordered the dang thing from the Circus City site. It says it’ll take 3 to 9 working days for it to be delivered. Way to pin it down there folks!

Tonight we’re going to some friend’s house for dinner. ACBG seems to think they’ll attempt to do more than dinner. I’ll leave what that is up to y’alls imaginations.

Oh and rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. Right now it’s a fine mist that’s been going on for a couple of hours. I’m hoping Arlene will just go on up into Tennessee real soon. She’s supposed to have hit land by now. I have drained excess water out of the pool several times between yesterday and today. It’s gettin’ tedious. But the yard is all nice and emerald green, so there is that. Oh! My porch lizard (y’all remember my porch lizard, right?) was scurrying around the porch earlier while I was out there and jumped up on the arm of the chair I was sitting in. He just stared at me for a few seconds and then scurried off. I guess he decided I was too big to eat.

Well, let’s hope my luck is better than my coding skills! :o

I must be feeling better… I just walked for about an hour in the park across the street, and I bet I covered 2 miles.

Beat he hell out of sitting on my ass inside, bored to death.

Go VunderBob! Excellent work.

I’m back from watching the nephew play T-ball. He scored a couple of runs and got two outs. If you’ve watched 6-year-olds play T-ball, you know that’s an accomplishment; outs are few and far between. His parents report that he once got six outs. What can I say? He’s gifted.

Also, there was ice cream and then we went to watch Madagascar. By then I was tired, so I snoozed through the middle.

I suppose I should go clean something. Somebody please inspire me!!!

The weather here is just not cooperating, rainy and windy, then sunny, then sunny and rainy…well, you get the idea, it’s real schizophrenic.

I have been informed that come hell or high water tomorrow, we are GOING out on the boat. Period! Mr. Taters was most emphatic on this point. So, I guess we’ll go out boating tomorrow.

Today, I didn’t do much of anything. We went out to breakfast with some friends this morning. When we came home, I visited with my friends and neighbors who were silly enough to have a “neighborhood” garage sale. We had some good laughs. The kids were selling homemade cookies and drinks. My friend, to quote another neighbor, is a “freakin’ bakin’ MACHINE!” I think those girls made around 40 bucks. I did not participate in the garage sale. Nope, no way, NADA. First, it would mean cleaning the garage; next it would mean actually finding stuff in the house to sell; third, it would mean sitting in my garage or on my driveway ALL day guarding my stuff. No thank you! I’ll just donate my stuff or haul it to the dump.

After visiting with the neighbors, I went to Costco and spent about two hours wandering through there. I bought a shop vac there, among other things.

Next, I went to Safeway and picked up a lotto ticket and some lunchmeat and stuff so I can pack sanniches for tomorrows boating adventure.

Then I came home finished my book, made dinner, and then played on the computer. Now, I’m fixin’ to head to bed so I can actually get up tomorrow morning.

It’s graduation day - for my niece. We have to leave the house in about 90 minutes. I could have slept for another hour, but my dog is used to going out around 5, so as soon as she figures out I’m awake (all that water I drank last night…), she comes into my room to bother me. So we’ve been out and I’m awake.

Last night was a nice, lazy night. We watched the 3 episodes of *Third Watch * that I’d taped for my sweetie. Then we went into the bedroom to watch TV till we fell asleep. I was crashed within a few minutes, and I vaguely recall hearing the TV go off. Yep, that’s how we spent our exciting evening alone. Oh, we did pick out our clothes for today. I’ve got to wear hose since I’m wearing a dress. Yes, there will be a disturbance in the Force since I’ll be in a dress. I hate to wear dresses, but I don’t own a decent non-dress outfit that I won’t roast in. Stoopit niece.

What kind of school has graduation at 10 AM on Sunday anyway? Apparently, the private boarding schools do. Sheesh. The snacks better be darn good!!

FCM in a dress? Will there be pictures? Just askin’.

I’m also an infrequent dress wearer. The one I wore last week to the wedding was the first since sometime last year. Mom’s birthday, maybe (late June). So I guess I’ve worn my annual dress.

I’m up to clean house due to company tomorrow. Why exactly did I think this would be a good time to invite people over? (Project stress at work, close to out-of-town wedding…?)

Also I have yard work to do. I’m hoping it won’t rain quite as much as they’re predicting.

Well…I suppose I should stop procrastinating and figure out what’s next into the washer…

Happy Sunday! And enjoy the early-morning graduation, FCM.

My mother will be taking pictures, but I won’t be posting any, unless they’re funny and they don’t involve me. :stuck_out_tongue:

And, considering how freekin’ early we need to leave for that thing and how long our drive home is, we won’t be hanging around all that long anyway. Almost time to hit the shower - there, you can enjoy mental images of me showering and in a dress. Or showering in a dress if that does it for you.

I’m outta here…

Morning, all.

That’s wonderful, bob! Glad you’re up to exercising.

Thunderstorms and hot today. Bailey is occupying most of this computer chair. I think I should go back to bed, but I have to clean and tidy before work. Bleh. And feed myself and the cats. I don’t suppose eating all the rest of the gingersnaps counts as a regular meal.

Well, I was up at 0630, made the coffee, perused the paper and have taken my shower. I’m sitting here with my hair pulled up into a pony tail, in my bathing suit and shorts.

I’m sure I’m going to freeze my ass off, so I’m going to bring sweat pants and sweat shirt.

The hubby is in the shower and will go fetch the boat so we can load 'er up. We’re still waiting for MIL to return our call so she can come out with us.

I need to clean my kitchen, pack sanniches, munchies, and beverages.

We’re going out to a different lake than usual, but we figured it’s worth checking out. It’s a huge lake out by Mt. Rainier called Alder Lake. Yes, it’s a man made lake and hopefully we will NOT run into any stumps or submerged logs. The end of the lake by the dam is supposed to be pretty deep, so I think we’ll kinda hang out there.

Well, I better get a move on. Enjoy your Sunday all…

Home from the graduation and the party. It was a long, long day and I’m glad to be back. The ceremony was nice enough, and I have to say I was impressed by the student who gave the speech. Not once did she say “Webster’s defines…” In fact, she made some really neat observations. The whole shebang lasted less than 90 minutes. Of course, there were only 28 graduates. As an aside, this is the school that Ron Howard’s daughters attended. La de dah.

My baby leaves tomorrow. When I get back from work, I’ll load her and her bf into the car and take them to BWI, and then life gets back to boring normal. <sniff sniff> my baby…

Sounds like a nice ceremony. Sorry your baby is leaving so soon. Didn’t she just get there?

Me, I haven’t accomplished nearly what I’d hoped to. I think I’m still catching up from having been gone last weekend. Also, it’s been EXTREMELY stressful at work (and unfortunately it’s one of those things that can’t be helped), so I’ve had a repeated impulse to take a nap. I’ve had at least 3 of them today. Also, I’ve watched a couple of episodes of Firefly.

So, it’s going to be the minimum amount of cleaning to make people feel welcome and the garden is just going to have to wait.

GT

She’s been here 10 days, sorta. She’s spent 3 nights at my mother’s, and I had to work, so I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her. I told her she can’t leave, but she’s so disobedient… <sigh>

Yeah, kids are like that. And I don’t think you have to bother with posting any pics, since the last time someone clamored for pictures in this thread, and I posted them, they were completely ignored by everyone except Ashes, Ashes.
<pout>

Psst, DogMom, we’re over here this week.
The MMP only lasts one week, Monday to Sunday. Then Rue starts us out on another one.
