It’s been weird. He did the trailer as a lark, but it’s spread like crazy. People are starting to notice them. Not just internet geeks sharing funny videos, but columnists from the Washington Post, CNN, and NPR. They’ve even gotten some interest from people actually in showbiz.
Way too soon to say if anything will come of this (they’re a college comedy troupe after all, they may just decide to finish their education instead of chasing what could be a fleeting interest), but this is just crazy.
A couple of weeks ago, they didn’t even have a web page.
Two years ago, they didn’t even have school funding.
Just a dream.
And the best chocolate cake in Boston.
They could also be the next Second City or Groundlings. They need exposure (and not the kind “Ron Popeil” had in Destrcto Gerbil - but the good kind) They’re funny!
I was shown it at work on a break. The guy who emailed it to me was laughing as he sent it. I watched it with him, doubled over with laughter, wet eyes. Brilliantly cut, perfectly timed. Great clips, funny concept.
We called over a few co-workers. There were not 6 of us. Myself, the guy who sent it and 4 others. ALL OF THEM stood without laughing. They shook their heads after, and didn’t “get” it. One guy said, so what, they’re supposed to be, like, gay? Isn’t that gay bashing? It isn’t funny one bit.
Oh my lordy. Allow me to introduce you to the concept of satire. :rolleyes:
I hope those guys DO finish their education, and while they’re doing so, keep on being so brilliant and clever. We Dopers, we do love sharp minds.
