Whatever ad server the SDMB uses is serving up a really annoying effect - it makes my browser (Chrome) attempt to download a file called “sugr.swf”, and pops up a window for me to save it (which I hit cancel on). I don’t block ads because I understand the need for the SDMB to use them to generate revenue, but this one is clearly not doing what it’s meant to do - can some administrator contact the service that provides the SDMB’s ads and have them fix that or remove it from the rotation?
Looks like a borked shockwave flash app in an ad to me.
What operating system and browser (including version) are you using?
Is anything displaying on the page that might indicate exactly what ad it’s coming from?
I’ve already kicked this upstairs but any additional info will be helpful.
We can get ads stopped but we have to know which one it is. Tell us what ads are visible next time this occurs.

The most recent appearance of this was on the Cafe Society forum page. At the top, there’s an ad for Miami tourism, at the bottom right, an ad for Time Warner cable, and in the bottom center, there’s a blank box where I assume this ad was meant to be. It seems to be from “AdChoices”, and when I “inspect” the code on the page, it seems to come from vindicosuite.com, if that means anything significant.
