Saturday morning, I hooked up my new food grinder attachment to my KitchenAid mixer; the voltage transformer is apparently faulth and so I found myself getting shocked badly. According to my wife, I started doing a little jig while swearing like a sailor passing a kidney stone, then came down HARD on the outside of my left foot.
The same foot that’s been sprained 5 times, with all of the toes having been broken at least once, the same foot that I broke the mallear bone of the ankle last Halloween.
A fun-filled trip to the emergency room later (surprisingly, in and out in less than 2 hours), I have a cast running from toe to knee, with my fifth metatarsal broken in an oblique spiral fracture. 3 weeks in this cast, more X rays, then up to 9 weeks in a walking cast.
Did I mention I live in a 2-story penthouse apartment that has a spiral staricase with no banister? And that we have a dog that needs to be walked 4 times a day?
This should be fun. Oh well, more time to catch up on my reading and brush up on my Dari before I go to Afghanistan this summer.
