I am surprised @dalej42 has said nothing about the shameful display on the podium by the silver medalist for women’s shot put. Nor has he castigated the IOC for suspending their investigation.
Nothing says “I love America” more than cheering when your nation loses a sporting event, amirite?
It all depends on how you define your “team”.
When an American athlete wins a medal, the odds are very great that you played no part in it. You can take no credit for their success, you have no part if they don’t succeed. Some of them have political beliefs that align well with yours, some may be quite different. If you cheer someone’s failure to medal because they don’t think like you or look like you, you’re a very small person indeed.
