Home: FF (Tabs is big for me)
Work: IE (I have found IE to be pretty fast)
For me, the only place where i really notice a difference is in starting up. But once i open my first browser window at the beginning of the day, it usually stays open all day, even when i’m doing other stuff on the computer. So Firefox probably loses me about two seconds a day on startup, which is something i can live with.
Wow, I’m the first person in the thread to use Mozilla? I have a virulent hatred for what they did to Firefox and I’m committed to sticking with the Mozilla fork of the tree as long as possible.
I use Opera with IE as backup for the odd site that I just have to go to that supports only IE.
Oh, yeah, Firebox definitely! I’ve used them all and FF is great. Another advantage is that you can then use Thunderbird for email, which is heads and shoulders above other email programs, IMHO.
Firefox. I stuck with IE for a long time, but on my second try of Firefox, it functionally blew IEs doors off.
It’ll be interesting to see what IE7 looks like as I’m sure Microsoft notices the reduction in IE penetration, and they aren’t ones to sit idly by when there’s lunch to be eaten.
Another home user of Firefox. Except where the site simply won’t work properly unless viewed in IE; I only have a few of those bookmarked.
Like others have noted, my work requires use of IE.
I stuck with Mozilla for a while, but then too many extensions just wouldn’t work.
I use IE, but only because it’s faster. (integrated into the shell and all).
I admittedly use IE, because I am stupid, dreadful, and technologically impaired. Go ahead, mock away. I’ve already had one person come into my room and chew out my tech-savvy roommate for letting me use such a terrible browser.
I use Firefox at home, but might as well not since my other family members are insistent upon using IE. I think I’m going to have to delete or password-protect their profiles or something to make them stop…
I used to use IE at work, but got sick of all the spyware on my computer (and others’) so I’ve swapped us all over to Firefox there as well. I had a little flak about it at first, but they adapted well. Much better than my bull-headed family.
Off to password all profiles until they see the error of their ways…
Been on Firefox for a year now & wouldn’t go back to IE for anything.
I am toying with the idea of trying opera after a recent thread about it.
I’m not tech savvy, I use this thing for entertainment and shopping, but I do know in my case that Firefox blows IE away speed-wise.
I use IE at work, because I do almost all my work logged into a site that simply doesn’t work in other browsers.
At home, though, I use Firefox unless I’m doing online banking or something else that needs to be secure. For secure stuff I still use IE.
Why? Firefox is a 128-bit SSL compatible browser. I think you’re misunderstanding what browser security is.
That’s entirely possible. In fact, I’ll go ahead and say that’s probable. Thanks!
Firefox
It’s eating my memory away, but tabbed browsing, man. Tabbed browsing. Think about that, will you?
The Acid2 test is pretty stringent - for everyday web development work (which is what I do every day), I’d say that Mozilla, Firefox, Opera and Safari are about even for adherence to W3C standards, with IE quite a way behind. The standards have been available for many, many years now, and IE has done nothing towards implementing them since IE5 (small changes in IE6, which was released years ago).
IE7 should be out soon, and they’ve finally decided to support .png graphics (hey, .png has only been available for 8 years, I suppose they thought they’d better get around to it sometime!), but have yet to confirm proper standards support for CSS2 or even complete CSS1. Other browsers give nearly full support to CSS1 (with some quirks) and partial support to CSS2 already.
Saying that IE isn’t doing that bad is kinda damning them with faint praise. They’re not doing that well, either. Microsoft has more resources than God, yet they’ve let their browser development languish and stagnate.
As for the speed issue, I dunno. Firefox definitely takes a second or two longer to start up, but the difference in browsing speed between it and IE (as shown in the link you gave) is barely noticeable.
Loyal Opera user for years now, where do you think FF got most of it’s ideas for plug in’s from?
At work, Opera for browsing and IE for work stuff.

now i’m using the browser on my new phone. data entry is quicker but more expensive! some might say I have too much money. I would disagree.
