I learned to play this game when we had down time in basic training. The rules are your basic six degrees of rules except you can only use actors in movies. No TV shows, no linking by directors, that kind of thing. I don’t know why we always did the six degrees of Harrison Ford, but that is how we played.
An easy example: Tom Cruise to Harrison Ford
Tom Cruise was in “Interview with a Vampire” with Brad Pitt (1)
Brad Pitt was in “The Devil’s Own” with Harrison Ford (2)
That took two, and you can use up to six.
Anyway on to the point of this thread. I finally figured out Bruce Lee to Harrison Ford and wanted to see if any of you movie Guru’s could do it. The only rule is that you have to do it with your own knowledge - no searching on IMDB or something like that. Please be honest on this - otherwise it is not a challenge. If you do figure it out, you might want to spoiler box it if anyone else is still trying.
Here’s a hint - the movie that finally allowed me to do it in six:
Airplane!
Oh, if this should be in MPSIMS, I understand. But, I thought I would get more movie buffs here.
Harrison Ford was in Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round (1966) with Larry D. Mann.
Larry D. Mann was in a two-part episode of The Green Hornet with Bruce Lee.
No guarantee that either actor shared a scene with Larry D. Mann, though.
Harrison Ford was in “Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round” with James Coburn.
James Coburn was in “The Americanization of Emily” with James Garner.
James Garner was in "Marlowe: with Bruce Lee.
Q: has anyone ever tried this and not been able to link any two people in six or fewer movies? Unless your trying to link an extra in Birth of a Nation to someone in a Bollywood epic or gay porno, isn’t it always doable? Or is the game not about if you can do it, but how they are linked?
The challenge is using movies and actors that the average movie watcher would recogonize. Labdad did it, but I’ve never seen or heard of any of the movies.
Here’s how I did it since this thread doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
Bruce Lee was in “Game of Death” with Kareem Abdul Jaabar(even if you don’t know the title of this movie, most people have seen that fight scene.)
Kareem Abdul Jaabar was in “Airplane!” with James Hong. ( I didn’t know his name, but I recognized him as the father in Wayne’s World Two).
James Hong was in “Wayne’s World Two” with Mike Meyers
Mike Meyers was in “Austin Powers” with Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell was in “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” with Mark Hamill (or Carrie Fisher)
Mark Hamill was in "Star Wars (I, II, or III) with Harrison Ford.
That’s six and most people would recognize all the actors and movies. I guess it’s not as big of a feat to everyone else as it was in my head.
1. Bruce Lee was in Game of Death with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
2. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was in Airplane! with Barbara Billingsley.
3. Barbara Billingsley was in the big-screen remake of Leave it to Beaver with Christopher McDonald.
4. Christopher McDonald was in Happy Gilmore with Richard Kiel.
5. Richard Kiel was in Moonraker with Michael Lonsdale.
6. Michael Lonsdale was in The Name of the Rose with Sean Connery.
7. Sean Connery was in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade with Harrison Ford.
I did have a little help from the IMDb for that, but I think 3 and 5 are worth extra style points.
There’s probably a Richard Kiel to Scatman Crothers (Silver Streak) to Jack Nicholson (The Shining) link too.
Or you can take the shortcut,
Richard Kiel was in Force 10 From Navarone with Harrison Ford
Bruce Lee and John Saxon were in “Enter the Dragon”
John Saxon and Salma Hayek were in “From Dusk 'til Dawn”
Salma Hayak and Willem Dafoe were in “Once Upon a Time in Mexico”
Willem Dafoe and Harrison Ford were in “Clear and Present Danger”
or
Bruce Lee and John Saxon were in “Enter the Dragon”
John Saxon and Johnny Depp were in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”
Johnny Depp and Willem Dafoe were in “Once Upon a Time in Mexico”
Willem Dafoe and Harrison Ford were in “Clear and Present Danger”
I linked Maria Falconetti, who was in one film–a Danish silent picture–to my cousin, who was in (among other things) Gremlins 2–in 3. So no, I don’t think there are any impossible links.
Bruce Lee and Jim Kelly were in “Enter the Dragon”
Jim Kelly and Scatman Crothers were in “Black Belt Jones”
Scatman Crothers and Jack Nicholson were in “The Shining”
Jack Nicholson and Dennis Hopper were in “Easy Rider”
Dennis Hopper and Harrison Ford were in “Apocalypse Now”
The Americanization of Emily (1964) was an “A” picture, nominated for a couple of Oscars. Too bad if today’s moviegoers don’t recognize it, but that’s their loss.
