As far as other posters believing “they’ve done something special and clever,” there is a certain satisfaction to be had in carrying out the war on ignorance. More worthy opponents would make it even more satisfying, of course. And we all have some sadness about it, since we have been unable to stamp out the kind of ignorance you keep spouting. That really is a disappointment. But as you seem to be impervious to reason, I suppose there’s not much more any of us can do.
Quite the contrary. The first time started a pit thread it didn’t work out as I’d hoped. I learned how the pit works, and what it does. Every pitting I’ve done since then has performed exactly as expected; including this one.
The Pit can be a handy tool, if you know how to use it.

It’s funny. In real life, I know a lot of people who believe in psychic powers, the supernatural, and New Ageism in general. And they’re all really cool people. Decent, friendly, respectful, and intelligent, every single one of them. I’m talking about some of my closest, oldest, dearest friends, here.
And yet, online, the only people I ever see who defend this stuff are vengeful, deceptive, duplicitous, hypocritical morons. What’s with that?
