BSG: Caprica DVD pilot leaked [spoilers]

The Final Five found the Centurions already worshipping one god. Ellen specifically stated so.

No, the Cylons were already monotheists when they encountered the Final Five. The Five were the ones that converted. I really hope Caprica doesn’t have any prophecy, divine visions, angels, etc. We had enought of that on BSG.

So basically, yes, Zoe might be the start of monotheism in Cylons.

The Zoe avatar had that little speech about how much stuff you can get from those databases, the implication being that you could get a pretty complete picture of a person. I guess we’re just supposed to assume he used ultra-google.

I dug the show, and I hope it continues to focus on the morality vs benefits of high tech innovation. That stuff is interesting. I also thought both Morales and Stoltz gave excellent performances.

If it focuses on crumbling families, I’m out.

If future episodes focus on hedonistic girl-girl teenage sex orgies, I’m buying the DVDs. :stuck_out_tongue:

Similar conservative ethical values I guess. No sex clubs on Gemenon, I bet.

Actually, it was the young guy who had the two girls convinced everything would be perfect once they got to Gemenon, but as we know, he had no intention of going to Gemenon.

They made the point several times that the human brain doesn’t hold much more than about 300MBs (MBs???) of data, but the trick is making that 300 megs work like a human brain. That’s what Zoe somehow managed to do using her own custom program plus all the digital data available about a person, which is apparently vast. With enough data, you can recreate a personality with memories. Close enough to give you the creeps, at least.

I thought that part was a bit hard to swallow actually, and it felt like Moore was making a not so subtle comment about computers and privacy. Not that he’s wrong. There is a tremendous amount of information about people stored on computers these days. Having recently, reluctantly joined Facebook I can tell you my nieces & nephews have no problem sharing their every thought with the world.

BTW, did everyone but me instantly recognize Sister Willow? She was driving me nuts the whole show. Her face & voice were so damn familiar but I just couldn’t place it. Afterwards I looked her up and was :smack: That’s Atia! Great role for Polly Walker.

Has anybody watched the deleted scenes on the DVD yet?

Zoe’s boyfriend, Ben, also created an avatar of himself and appeard to Sister Willow.

I tried to get it off Netflix but missed the window. Now it’s on “very long wait.” :frowning:

Did the deleted scene belong in the story, or was it cut for good reason?

Went to pick up the DVD yesterday… no Blu Ray.:frowning:

Anyone know if a Blu Ray release is likely?

At seeing her on-screen, I immediately figured she was plotting or scheming.

I was very impressed. I have to say that, so far, the only SF pilots that I haven’t found cringingly bad (e.g., TNG and Babylon 5) have been Moore’s BSG and, now, Caprica.

I’m bumping this since Caprica premieres tonight on SyFy.

Are they showing the movie that this thread appears to discuss as the series premiere, or is this to be a regular episode which assumes we’ve seen the movie? Cuz if it is a regular episode, I’ll have to goggle up a recap of the movie before watching…

They are showing the DVD movie, similar to how they eventually showed The Plan. It will be slightly different - a few bits are removed (nudity) and a few extra scenes were put in.

Hopefully they’ll restore the deleted scenes with Sister Willow and Ben Stark. It’s alittle odd how much of her was cut out of the DVD version. Especially her in Club V. The could really play up the “double life” angle with her visually. Have Polly Walker dressed like a vicar/nun/librarian and covered from her neck to ankles for the real world scenes, then whever she’s in the VR world dress her the most provocative and revealing clothes allowed on basic cable. Totally different hair and makeup.

I knew they’d have to tame down the nudity, but didn’t know they’d added things as well. Can’t wait!

Turns out they didn’t add anything; just edited it for content and running time. Maybe they tweaked some of the CGI (I don’t remember the aerial shots of the stadium, but I could be wrong). Still, I’m looking forward to next week’s episode. The preview of the upcoming season looked pretty good.

Was that a fraking zeppelin we saw!?

Overall, I liked it. Dark, edgy, some really neat tech, and a proto-centurian vulnerable to PMS.

So this new show is connected to BSG? I suppose that’s a. why I was a bit lost b. they threw in the word “cylon” towards the end.

I didn’t like it at all, so I don’t think I’ll be watching any more episodes.

Caprica is a prequel to BSG. Think the time is 58 years before the cylon attack that started BSG. William Adama, son of mob lawyer Joseph Adams, will grow up to command Galactica. Daniel Greystone is in the process of inventing the cylons as robotic soldiers. We know that won’t end well.

I like it. Different from BSG, but different in a good way. And Atia? Is that you?
