So, recently I saw an episode of BSG that (keeping spoilers to a minimum) featured Starbuck stressing out over some Cylon fighter ace that was tearing the Colonial viper pilots a collective new one. Various stuff ensues, and an excellent episode was had.
It did strongly remind me of ANOTHER sci-fi show, Space: Above and Beyond, which had two episodes centered around a Chig fighter ace nicknamed “Chiggy Von Richtofen”, who was using an experimental new superfighter to collectively rip the Earther hammerhead pilots a new one, and Colonel McQueen’s obsession with destroying him (and his related quest to enjoy a damned good bottle of scotch).
So, it occurs to me that maybe S:AAB wasn’t the originator of this general story, and I’m interested in any other renditions of this you might know of (need not be fighter pilots, but I’m really interested in those).
