Buck-a-litre gas hits Toronto

This evening, according to prices posted by the public at http://www.torontogasprices.com/ , gasoline prices at many stations have broken past the psychologically-significant $1/litre* barrier. They’d been flirting with it for a couple of days–98.5c/L, 99.2c/L, even 99.9c/L–and last night the number of stations posted with 99.9 increased. Tonight it was as if the floodgates had opened, and all the high price entries on the site were above $1.02/L.

Crud. I posted this in the wrong forum. Could someone please move it? I was aiming for MPSIMS. :: blush ::

Moved to MPSIMS.

Thanks! That was quick.

My brother in Vancouver was just telling me tonight that gas hit $1.19 there.

Around here it’s going for about US$2.50 per gallon, which works out to CA$0.80 per liter at the current exchange rate. So, we’re a little cheaper than you. And we STILL think it’s high.

I’m sure that, once again, it is mere coincidence that the ga sprices spiked just before a sunny weekend. I am sure it will be mere coincidence when they drop on Sunday.

Is the price rise starting to affect your driving habits? I think it’s stressing my friends… last weekend they seememd relieved when we cancelled plans for them to drive their SUV down to meet me at my place and then take in a movie. And that was last weekend when it was only 95c/L.

There’s a reason why Canadian dealers are selling as many Toyota Echo hatchbacks and Smart fortwos and Pontiac Wave/Chevy Aveo5/Suzuki Sprint+ cars as they can. I’m really surprised that Honda hasn’t brought their small car, the Jazz, over here.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!
Gas prices drop. What a kidder!

Yes, there may be a drop, but looking at the price chart on the link in the OP, there’s a long-term rise. And the prices here were rising sort of steadily all week, bot the usual kind of “jack it up on Friday afternoon” thing.

I would’nt expect the price of gas to stablize till after the labour day weekend, and from there , drop to somewhere in the mid 70’s to 80’s.

Up here in Barrie , the price has gone from 99.9 to 92.3 and back up to 99.9 on friday.

Petrol’s about AUD$1.16 per litre here, which translates to about CAN$1.04. So pretty much the same.

Never use the stuff myself, but over here in England it’s about £0.90 a litre, C$1.96, and rising.

Here in the UK it persuaded my Father to buy a diesel SAAB to replace his old petrol Volvo.

I’m in Atlantic Canada. 106.9 a litre. Joy.

On our recent trip to the NWT, we were paying between 1.10 and 1.15 a liter.

Most definitely. I figure if I’m going to pay this much for gas, I’m going to romp on the gas pedal as much as possible.
