Bud Ford, executive director of the Illinois State Fair, has been trying for two years to lure Jimmy Buffett to the fair. Last year, attendees at the fair were encouraged to stop by a special booth Mr. Ford had set up and videotape a plea to Mr. Buffett to come to our town in for the 2001 fair. No dice.
Since then, he has harangued Mr. Buffett’s management with pleas, offers of obscene amounts of money, and more pleas to try to get Mr. Buffett to come to Springfield. Now he is encouraging the residents of Illinois to contact Mr. Buffett’s management directly.
If this matter is of any interest to you, please visit this page and give Mr. Ford a hand.

Yes and no. The Dairy Building (home of the butter cow) is right next to the fair’s “Key West” section, where a Buffett soundalike band will perform this year.
But, alas, if Mr. Buffett actually performs, he’ll be at the grandstand, a good 800 yards away.
Oh, for the love of God, please, don’t encourage Mr. Buffet. While I’m sure he does a lot for the loads of fans he has, my job may very possibly bring me in contact with the man should he consent to perform at the Fair.
And that would just positively RUIN my year. Why don’t we get drunk and screw, indeed.
