In the Buffalo Tom song Taillights Fade who is Cappy Dick in this verse:
Lost my life in cheap wine
Now it’s quiet time
Cappy Dick nor Jesus Christ
Could not help my fate
Is this someone well-known to Americans? Or just to Buffalo Tom? I have wanted to know the answer since 1992. It’s a great song.

Man, I loved Buffalo Tom in the “Let Me Come Over” to “Sleepy Eyed” era, but “Smitten” really sucked.
Thanks a lot - it’s great to finally know. It’s also embarrassing because when I first went on-line I did check out the Buffalo Tom site. I spent ages reading Bill Janovitz’s journals about his life spent visiting acquariums of the world, etc on tour. I just didn’t check out the FAQ’s. I agree about Smitten. But I’ve often wondered if that kind of thing is a band thing or a fan thing. Did I/you change or grow away or did the music change? It’s happened to me so often now with so many artists that I think I need an answer to that to.
