Our favourite floppy-eared demon is back, sporting a tan. I’m so happy.
Other than that, for those who’ve heard it one way or another - this is the episode where Willow makes a spell to locate yet another Slayer-In-Waiting and the resulting orange energy ball hits Dawn. So there is quite a lot of Dawn is this episode, but not whiney Dawn. So it works.
Buffy has started to train the SIW’s and gives som inspirational speaches. There is some really good action in this episode, with cross-cutting between two vampire fights.
For Spike fans, the happy news is that he’s out of his brood mood, and acting cool again. Not enough scenes with cool Spike, but it sure points to things we like.
In a way, it’s old time Buffy. Humour, action, drama - all mixed together. No übervamp or complex plot twists. Just a straight forward episode, which brings the arc a bit further on. I like it. It reminds of the Buffy I started tuning in to.
Question: Why didn’t Spike want Buffy to not find out about
the First’s runes? I presume that that was the reason that Spike didn’t want Buffy feeling him up in front of the SITs?
Also, didn’t Kennedy make a line indicating that she may well be receptive to Willow’s advances?
If anyone can give a total show summary, or point me to one, I will be forever grateful. My cable won’t be on until tomorrow after the cable guy decided not to show up last Wednesday and last Friday. Yes, my reception is that bad.
I see it as Kennedy making advances towards Willow. I really like that girl. She has looks, charisma, screen prescense and attitude. I want her to take a bigger part on the show. Let’s get on with her and Will, so we get hot steaming sex scenes with them :droool: (caveat I’m not inclined towards that kind of sex in porn or movies - but two babes at the same time. Yay.)
erislover. By tomorrow, some summaries should be up. I like this site, mainly because it’s snarky and has some fun with the Jossverse. They’re not putting Buffy down, it’s just that… well look for yourself. YMMV
Others, no doubt, will be along with links to more serious sites.
I’m sorry, I saw Bricker’s thread after I posted that which has many links, and I posted here to say so but it looks as if the time-out was the bad “no post was made” kind rather than the more common (in my estimation) “the post was made and if you try again you’ll only doublt post” kind.
But thanks much, that is a fun site. I remember being linked there before and indeed I am now adding it to my favorites so’s I never have to ask again.
Has Kennedy ever been told Willow’s sexuality explicitly? It seems to me that the flirtation started way back with the room assignments. Perhaps she was tipped off by Willow’s refusal to sleep with her?
Also, on a different note (Not from the bam-chica-chica-baw-waw song),
Did anyone else get Helpless vibes from the two vampires attacking trapped proto-slayers?
If Buffy accepts that protoslayer >= vampire, why was she so pissed at the Council?
Also, where was Giles? Where/what/why was Robin Wood? Is Willow still in college?
And I’m still convinced Clem is working for TFE, and will messily devour a large number of the SITs.
Also, in the non-spoiler category, are the Bringers human? Buffy seems to have scruples about waxing human troublemakers
Clem only eats kittens. He’s like Alf in that way. Another adorable, cuddly otherworldly character of television.
Yeah. The sparks were flying the first night they were supposed to bunk together. God knows (or rather Joss knows) what’s up with the principal. One of many plot twist lying around, looking embarrased right now. Somebody better pick them up soon, or they’ll die from lack of interest.
Robert Next box is spoiler about Giles, for upcoming episode.
Giles is in China, picking up a SIW. He’ll be back soon
See! This is why I’m spoiled! There is no way in hell I could sit through week after week and not know what’s going to happen to the characters and plot lines. I have no idea how you people do it.
How long are they going to keep up the myth that Buffy’s death activates another Slayer? Why hasn’t anyone pointed out “Hey, you were dead for, like, months! Where’s the third Slayer?”
Also, thank you Joss for bringing back the Xander we all know and love. OMFG to his speech. Brought a tear to my eye, that’s for sure.
I loves me some Xander. I mean, awwwww. That’s the guy I remember! Now that he and Dawn have said all this out loud, maybe he can return to his role as utility infielder for the Scoobies. The bitter Xander of the last two seasons has not really been to my taste.
I like that the new SITs aren’t all super cool and super hot. Amanda’s geeky and not “beautiful” per se, and Vi sort of reminds me of Season One Willow.
the sound was pretty screwed up throughout the episode. it’s like they recorded it next to a busy highway, and then tried to blank out the background noise in between lines. very annoying. did anyone else notice this?
pepperland No, Dawn suggests that that may be his power.
Anyway excellent episode. I agree with all that has been said above and heartily approve of the implied Clem game face.
I hope the Xander for this episode sticks around as opposed to doing the vanishing act that he seems to do only to be replaced by the annoying Xander. His end speach was good as were his comments that were barely heard while Dawn was in her room.
As for the bringers being human I think once you blind yourself and start following the First Evil you have officially turned in your “I am a human.” badge with regards to the Slayer’s moral duty to turn you over to the cops instead of killing you.
On preview: thirdshift the sound wasn’t like that for me but the local UPN affiliate is messed up and occasionally it looks like the feed is slowing or about to stop. This isn’t a problem, or at least not nearly as much of a problem, on other UPN affiliates I’ve watched. Might have been the feed not the actual episode.
Of course, a similar question might be: “Hey, with all these SITs how did Buffy slip through the cracks?” Until the show states it clearly, or somehow manages the impossible and proves a negative, I don’t find it that hard to believe that there could be a third slayer running around.
Well, I liked the episode. A lot of the spoiled people didn’t, but we got reports over a month ago that Dawn was the potential, so we were all real upset. It wasn’t until the beginning of this month that we found out it was Amanda. Also, most of them felt like there wasn’t nearly enough Spike. BUt I was happy with the Spike time because we got a straddle, a few looks, a smile, and he wasn’t insane in the basement.
I think it was a strong, albeit, filler episode. But Kirshner is one of my favorite writers.
