I don’t think that’s what Wolverine was saying. What I think he’s talking about is, if the Big Evil succeeded in killing all the teenaged SIT, then killed Buffy and/or Faith, the next Slayer called might still be an infant, as all the older candidates have been taken out.
There are Halloween episodes only in even # seasons.
I would like to see a really good Buffy birthday episode. Although I don’t know where spoilers come from I wouldn’t put it past Joss to really fuck with the out flow of information when he finds it.
As for the age range of Slayers to be I think there is probably a window in which Potentials are called unless there are desperate measures. Finding SITs requires a spell. The series has stated this explicitely. I’m sure the Watcher’s Council has on retainer, if not actually employed, individuals who can cast the spell.
Finally the nature of Slayerdom is very different in the movie. It is strongly implied in the movie that the Slayer is the same girl reincarnated over and over again. That the one a generation is interpreted not as one dies a new one comes but one days and is then reborn. This is clearly inefficient when you have a lot of vampires to deal with. In the movie it seemed that the master vampire was the Guy to Beat as opposed to in the series where the world needs constant protection from a whole lot of evil and in fact requires more than just a Slayer but champions in general. The Slayer is just a champion with a cool background.
Let me amend my previous post. It doesn’t require a spell in that you need a spell to do it. I meant only requires a spell as opposed to anything insane and obscure. There may or may not be other means of discovering a potential Slayer.

The spoilers come from preliminary and shooting scripts, as well as casting sides. Earlier this year, they tried to stop the leak, but I swear to god, every man and his dog has a script for eps 12-14, and I know of at least 5 different sources floating around for ep 15. each with their own script, and spoilers only broke yesterday. In a week or so, that number could double or triple.
If Joss is trying to somehow fuck with the flow, he’s doing a piss poor job.
This was one of the stronger episodes this season, and would have been even better if Buffy would just stop lecturing.
Yes, Dawn was kind of stupid about not going to the school armed, but how many times has Buffy done just that? And I still think that Dawn will end up as a potential (which is entirely useless as far as I can tell, aside from joining up with a super keen club of women with medieval weapons).
I mean, doesn’t anyone think it’s important for the rest of the group to get some hand-to-hand training? Xander and Dawn have already gone toe-to-toe with beasties and survived. And it was Dawn being Miss Improv and actually demonstrating what Buffy was talking about during her lecture…
Hey, look, I found a Buffythread.
I thought Potential was lame, lame, lame. All speechy and preachy, and not nearly enough Spikeflesh to patch the holes. It was great seeing Clem again, though.
On the “straddling” scene- Spike has had a thing about not wanting Buffy to touch him going all the way back to “Lessons”, apparently due to the guilt he feels over the attempted rape- which is also the reason he wouldn’t ask her for help while he was insane in the basement.
Oh, and finding out that James Marsters is 40 made me feel much less guilty about lusting after him. I like my men on the older side- any guy who’s more than about thirty seconds younger than me looks like jailbait.
