Buffy 11/20 -- SPOILERS

We saw the spiking, of that I am completely certain! She’s groping around between them, then suddenly…Aaaaaahhhh…

As for the FX choices… it occured to me that almost all of them were from the Buffy episodes that FX has shown, and that the voters were probably a majority of people like me: new to Buff since the FX eps started, so if I had been voting, my votes would have been for an episode that had been in those first 50 or so.

In fact, the eps *were * my faves so far, overall.

Yeah, I’m not saying the eps weren’t good (at least the ones I saw; I did tune away from a few for some other Vitally Important Television). Just that it was silly to waste two slots on something like “Graduation Day” when it had just been on two days before. Same goes for “Prom,” which would have been on the preceding Friday or maybe even Monday, I forget. Meanwhile, now we’ll have to wait weeks for the second- and third-best eps of the series (those being “Hush” and “The Body”) when we could have had them NOW NOW NOW.

So obviously, I’d have substituted “Hush” and “The Body” for “Graduation Day.” And personally I’d have rather seen, say, Willow’s battle with Glory and the Final Battle with Glory over the two-part pilot. Anyone else want to chime in? Or is this deserving of its own thread?

New thread! New Thread!

I desperately want to talk about Graduation Day 1 and 2.

My general opinion of Buffy is that its a good show that gets so close to these great ideas and concepts but over half the time just falls short. But has such a loyal fan base that they blindly forgive these shortcomings due to its use of pop-culture and modern Archetypes and scenarios.

So, Otto, what is the #1 best ep of all time?

Your wish is my command. FX Marathon thread

'Nother geek without a life checking in. Sorry for being late, just caught up to last Tues on my vcr.

Anyway:

I myself picture Buffy being too preoccupied to really notice what’s happening until it is too late. I do agree that if Tara stops Willow/brings her back from the Darkside, it will be with the help of their surrogate “child” Dawn. But my money is on Xander for this. They have the longest standing relationship of all the scoobies. I have no idea what Ethan Rayne would do.

Otto: Love your new phrase. I’ll be using it.

To all the people who hate the 3 geeks: Guys, you have got to get some perspective. They are comic relief, and damned good comic relief at that. They are not the “big bad” this season. That would be Willow. Unless she is the “misdirection big bad”, with someone worse coming. Someone to play Emperor to her Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, perhaps.

I myself absolutely love those guys. How can you not?

“So…you’re English?”
“Yeah”
“I’ve seen every episode of Dr. Who.”

Incredibly funny bit in an ep chock full of them.

As to what’s going on with Buffy: I posted the full version of this theory on another board where I do most of my talking about BtVS, but in short it is this:

They resurrected Slayer Buffy without Human Buffy. These 2 parts can be split, as we learned in that ep last season where the demon tried to do it with his magic staff thingy but hit Xander instead. It happened this way because their motivation for doing the resurrection was selfish in part, they wanted their friend back, but more than that, they wanted a Slayer to protect them.

Interesting theory, but I think it’s incorrect because Spike can slug her without getting chipped. Also I disagree that the Scoobies wanted “The Slayer” back more than they wanted “Buffy” back.

I hope that Willow isn’t the big baddie. The Willam DeFoe character, whoever he is, could be a much better villan, turning Willow to the dark side, using her up, and spitting her out.

I don’t object to the Trio being comic relief, I just object to them being bad comic relief.

As comic relief the trio is good actually, but in the episode where the seemed intent on getting Buffy all messed up I didn’t like them becuase they seemed too powerful and they also presented a long term plan deailing with Buffy. At that point I thought they might be a serious threat. I didn’t like that at all, not I see they’ll probably be more comic relief, but I still feel uneasy about their threat against Buffy lingering so many episodes.

Just for the record, that actor wasn’t Willem Defoe, although I admit there’s a resemblance.

I’d be surprised if the show could have afforded Willem Defoe.

Who’s the most famous guest star who’s been on Buffy? Offhand I’m guessing Joel Grey.

I know SMG and Britney Spears are friends and that everyone involved wanted Britney to guest on the show, but schedule conflicts prevented it.
