Well, I’m going down for a nap before the show comes on, will be nestled all snug in my bed while visions of Spikeflesh dance in my head.
J love Spike’s De Soto, too. I was actually kind of hoping that this season he would make his entrance by knocking down the “Welcome to Sunnydale” sign with it, even though he did leave on a motorcycle.
I can’t believe they’re selling Spike’s De Soto.
Maybe Clem will buy it.
Is Clem in this episode? Will we ever see Clem again?
I can throw in $1000. But you guys have to ship it to Europe for the summer.
I guess Clem took off, emptying the crypt and putting up the car for sale.
::sigh::
Some people from ME seems to hang on bronzebeta just after each new show. If I can catch one of them, I’ll put a virtual stake to his/her throat and demand some answers.

WHERE IS CLEM?

on another completely unrelated note, why do we still not know what’s up with Buffy “coming back wrong?” Seems like that’s a major plot point, but nothing has really been said about it yet, and it’s 1/3-1/2 through what’s probably the last season of the show.
I don’t go to spoiler sights or anything, and it’s just a WAG, but i think that this may come in big in the fight against TETD. I hope so anyways, that’s hella serious, and it would be a shame if it just turned out to be a throw-away line.
Point1) Our fears confirmed. The First is here. Lordy.
Point 2) The Star Wars references are beyond belief. Going into the novels now??? (Iron Fist) Awesome!!!
Point 3) Damn. Heavy. No word yet on Giles and action out the ass …
Point 4) Is it just me, or does the “evil whatever” look an awful lot like a goblin or whatever from LOTR? I think they would have been better off leaving “it” formless.
A little disappointing, actually. The “real” vampire might not be the First Evil, just one of the nasty friends. It suffered the same problem with the big bad in Angel, they are much better off left to the imagination.
Just kill Spike already, how many times do you have to get burned? But they are setting things up for either Spike and Buffy to live happily every after, or to have one sacrifice themself for the other.
Dawn kicked some butt in the fight, better than most everyone but Buffy. Anya looked hot. I assume the Principal is operating under the influence. Several jokes about Andrew’s non-entity status. Good exchange between Willow and Andrew.
Looks like the Watcher’s Council was all sound and fury, signifying nothing. Good call not to show what happened to Giles, much better to let it stew for a while. His last surprise entrance was great, let’s see 'em try and top it.
The First Evil couldn’t get Andrew to kill a pig, he was going to use pig’s blood from a butcher, but when that all failed they showed their hand to the Slayer and used Spike instead? Come on, how 'bout a neighborhood dog? A blood bank? Yeesh.
Good stuff, but not a great cliffhanger. They should’ve ended last week and picked up this in January.
So I’m thinking that maybe Principal Wood is being manipulated by the First by getting rid of Jonathan’s body. He looked possessed when he stopped and turned towards the basement.
It makes sense that Spike was used. As the First said Its harbringers are not known for subtly. They wouldn’t want to use a blood bank, they’d want symbolism. I think that they are raising the demon that first shared blood with a human to make vampires. I suspect that it will die faster than everyone expects.
I have to say I loved that the Watcher’s council building exploded. I was like “Take that you stuffy non-information sharing twits.” I mean honestly they decide not to tell the Slayer on the Hellmouth that the First Evil is active and pissed? What schmucks.
What I really want to know is when exactly a bunch of tight asses got into the business of directing Slayers. Was it an independent organization that found the Slayers? An organization set up explicitely to guide the Slayers? They aren’t part of the plan, as the First Slayer said the Slayer is supposed to be alone. I suspect not even the Watcher’s remember where they came from, at least not honestly.
Finally I didn’t see a next time on. Is there going to be a new one next week or not?
Could somebody share with us Buffy newbies what info had been previously revealed about this “First Evil” thing? I’ve been watching the past 3 or 4 seasons or so, and I don’t recall it ever being mentioned before.
I assumed that the harbingers acted because Buffy and the Scoobies were close to uncovering the truth. They’d begun to figure out how Spike was being controlled. Andrew was close to talking. If the harbingers had waited, Buffy would have known everything anyway.
(of course, this doesn’t explain why the harbingers didn’t just bleed one of their own at the start of the season.)
Re-The First Evil
I’m disappointed that Morphy(cute, yet descriptive) turned out to be the First Evil. A bunch of Dopers guessed that after episode 1 of this season. I discarded that theory because it was too obvious.
Re- Master, Tokisstoast etc-
No Buffy basis whatsoever here, but I’d always thought age and lineage were handled roughly like Vampire The Masquerade-
Master-ancient 5th gen Methuselah
Darla-6th gen with a few centuries under her belt
Angel-7th gen, just 200 years
Drusilla-8th gen, but with psychic abilities
Spike-9th gen with inferiority complex
Harmony-10th gen
Kokistos-It’s possible he was old, but of high generation. He could be a 1000 year old 9th gen.
I am aware that the Buffyverse is not the World Of Darkness. I’m just suggesting that the number of steps away from the source may be a factor in how powerful Buffy vampires are as well.
It was the thrid season episode amends:
(from tv tome)
While the gang prepares for their Christmas vacation, Angel is haunted by visions of his violent past. A mysterious force called the First Evil takes the form of Jenny Calendar and tries to convince him to lose his soul in Buffy and become evil again. Believing that he isn’t strong enough to fight the demon within, Angel waits on the top of a hill for the sun to rise.
Buffy finds him and tells him to fight back, that he can do real good in this world, but just as she is giving up it begins to snow, preventing Angel from being killed by the sunlight.
Meanwhile, Willow goes to great seductive lengths to win Oz back.
Minor nitpick but Harmony wasn’t Sired by Spike but by one of the Mayor’s vampires at graduation. One that broke the rules as the Mayor told them to kill but not feed.
I think Spike paired up with Harmony because she’s an attractive easy to manipulate vampire that Spike found to be a tolerable amusement while he was searching for that ring.
Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce the Little Bad. It’ll be dead in 2-3 episodes, easy and then the real fun will start.
As far as I can tell First can impersonate anybody who has died, including Buffy and Spike, but it doesn’t impersonate the living. Is this correct? I am beginning to wonder if Principal Wood isn’t a deader himself, controlled by the First… Of course, last week I expressed my desire that Giles would end up dead and controlled by the First unbeknownst to the Scoobies. Obviously I want everybody to die.
I’m disappointed it’s the First, though sides for Ep 8 was leaked like 3 weeks ago, so I kinda already knew. I just wish it wasn’t somebody from such as a lame episode as Amends. But I won’t start my rant about that…
She. Believes. In. Him. That’s all I can say about this episode.
BTW, the building that was blown up was not the same building we saw Travers et. al in. sigh January 17.
Guys, I don’t know all that much about the Buffy universe. I’ve only seen episodes here and there - this season is the first complete one I watched. But could the guy at the end must be Vlad the Impaler/Dracula/Nosferatu himself?
