It was a new episode this week, i was under the impression that it would be a re-run, especially since thegaspode didn’t post anything last night. I’m not very god at these “new thread” posts, so…
So the hooded fellows have finally decided to move into Sunnydale where the real action is. iiiinnteresting. (i also just watched Jackie Chan adventures, so I’m feelin grandpa right now)
What good did the watcher’s council ever do anyways? Never really helped out, never provided any kind of significant support (although I’m sure someone will come along in a few posts and prove me wrong)
And what happenned last season with Buffy was maybe just spike being spike. He’s one dirty guy. He did take good care of Dawn though.
and i wish someone would talk to me the way buffy talked to spike. <sigh> I wish my then-GF could act as well as SMG. Now i feel like i’m about to give too much info on my personal life, so i’ll leave it at that.
Principal Dude is looking more and more “watcher-ey.”
There’s more but i don’t want to give it all away. Moves plot along very nicely.
I can’t believe their leaving us hanging until January 17th!!!. That’s seven weeks. Seven. Dear God…
Can’t wait for tomorrow night. I’ve seen clips and read a bit of the wildfeed, but only for the Spike parts. I don’t know what’s going on with everybody else…
The episode I got was missing the last ten minutes Grrr. Arrggh.
And they turned out to be very important minutes indeed.
Whoa. And double whoa. Another great ep. Maybe this is the last season - and if so, JW has decided to go out with a bang.
The council is fully involved end we get a couple of scenes with Quentin Travers. It seems that they knew what was coming, but didn’t tell Buffy.
Buffy is trying to get a hold of Giles, and so is the Council. Will they succed? Watch and find out…
Some comedic relief from Andrew, Willow, Anya and Xander.
Hints from Xander about his emotional life.
Xander gets to be smart and come up with an explanation for Spike’s behaviour.
We now know what the hooded guys are. And they’re in Sunnydale.
The principal? The jury’s still out, debating agent of good or evil. But he knows more than has be shown, so far. My take: He knows what Buffy is and wanted her at the school. But for protection or as a sacrifice…? Tune in next week.
My spoiler sources says there is going to be a new episode next week, pepper.
Spike fans will get a lot of Spike this week. Even to the point where Buffy says “You look good without a shirt.”
The Scoobies now know what Morphy is. But we get to know even more, at the very end. Nananana. I’m not telling.
All for now. I’m all hyped from just watching the ep. I’ll prolly think of more in a while.
COMPLETELY UNRELATED QUESTION. Way back when the Master was around as the bad guy, he was the oldest vampire alive right? And he was also the most powerful vampire? If so, would it be safe to assume that the higher up the lineage you go (to vamps closer and closer in heritage to THE FIRST VAMPIRETM) they would get more and more powerful, no?
I don’t know that they ever said that the Master was the oldest vampire alive. He was described as “very old and very powerful”, but I don’t think it’s ever been said that he was the first vampire ever. He’s probably pretty close, though.
I don’t think it’s ever been said that vampire strength increases the closer you are to the oldest vampire, but I think it’s sort of an unwritten rule. It would explain, for example, why Angel is so much stronger and harder to kill than a recently sired vampire. Within close generations, it doesn’t appear to be as dramatic a difference. (e.g. there doesn’t seem to be much of a meaningful difference in terms of strength between Angel and Spike, Drusilla, Darla, or Penn), but perhaps it manifests itself as you get further out. It’s as good an explanation as any for the fact that Angel can take out five or six regular vamps on its own.
I’m not sure if the Master was the eldest vamp at the time of his destruction, but it has always confused me that he was, aspart from being perpetually vamped-out, fairly normal physiologically. If you recall, the big scary vampire that Mr. Trick worked for before coming under the employ of the Mayor had been undead for so long/was so powerful that he had developed hooves, a feature which the Master, for all his age and power, had not obtained. What’s the deal with that?
Thanks pepperlandgirl! I guess this means that Angel will eventually become a horsey or a doggie or something…which could complicate things with Cordy…providing that she’s not, y’know, into that…
Dn NOT click this box unless you want the ending completely and uterly ruined
Gaspode, i don’t think it’s a huge problem, judging from the (admittedly few) responses thus far. Infact, i think that by not putting it in a spoiler box it would throw people off more. If it was in a spoiler box, then they would know that it had something to do with the episode nes pas? I think it would seem weird to type ON AN UNRELATED NOTE :bigblackbox:
Since I’m in a big black box anyways, i didn’t really like his “look.” A little too Willem Defoe from Shadow of the Vampire for me
It is age not generation that matters in Buffy. If Angel made a new vamp right now they wouldn’t be more powerful than a new vamp made by Spike or one of the Spike Sired. Of course those closer to the source are probably older and thus the two are somewhat confounded.
Also the creature shop has mentioned that they think of vampirism as a disease and as you get older you get a more advanced case of it. They have work ups for different stages and the like. Very cool stuff actually. The focus is on increasing bestial traits. It may be that the Master was younger than Kestos or however you spell that guy’s name. The Master knew more tricks, for instance he had some mind control abilities and had a way to be brought back from the dead.
But for all we know, the line of Aurleius (sp?)–The Master’s Line–is stronger, in general, than other vampires. It’s certainly true that age seems to be the deciding factor, but Angel and his little family might have the added benefit of coming from a more powerful line.
Remember the distinction that Joss has made between minions and masters. Everyone in Angel’s family is one of the none schmuck vampires. Spike produced all schmuck vampires under direction from the big bad. I believe Joss said the amount of blood given and some other factors matters for becomming a minion type vampire (ie Slayer-fodder).
Fair enough, pure. Maybe I reacted, cause I’ve seen the episode.
Me thinks many fans stay away from this thread till later tonight, except pepper, and maybe Thea Logica.
When it goes on the air, I’ll be sleeping sound so I’ll have to wait till tomorrow morning to check out what others think. I very much want to talk about this episode. So much went on…
