Buffy Fans - You watching Ringer Sept 13? (SMG's new show)

Yeah. The storyline continues to make no sense (the contrivances enabling Bridget to get money out at the bank were particularly painful) but the various ways the writers kept coming up with to have most of the cast almost, but not quite, discover the body had me laughing out loud.

They should just title the show “The Perils of Bridget” and be done with it.

She knew how the body got there - she put it there once she sent the party staff out to lunch.

Nice to see Miss Pardon My Tits from Dexter. That broad is effortlessly menacing.

SMG looked hawt at the party. She had a J-Lo vibe going with the gold tones in the makeup. Overall her makeup was a lot better this ep. She looked a little haggard around the eyes in some shots in the pilot.

That’s who that was? (We’re talking about the husband’s business partner, right)

ETA Lila, that was her name. (in Dexter).

The banking stuff bothered me. Yes, rich clients get specialize service, no problem there. But Bridget was asking to clean out what was set up as an ‘emergency’ account, once with apparently tens of thousands of dollars in it, judging by the wads in her purse.

And the banker doesn’t even ask why she’s doing it? No, “If you’re being blackmailed” or “If someone has been kidnapped” probing?

That seemed really weak to me.

And as for the body getting into the trunk: it seemed to me that she looked at the neatly folded up tarp BEFORE she sent everyone off to lunch? There simply was no way that tarp held a body AND there is no way that anyone could have moved the tarp without discovering the body: she left it on top of the body and just loosely tucked around it. The second anyone grabbed the tarp to move it, the body would have been revealed.

An added problem: when she opens the trunk later and finds it empty – why wasn’t there a big blood stain on the bottom of the nice clean wood? Because there’d been enough bleeding for it to leak out onto the floor during the party.

Which is also bogus, of course. Blood clots and stops being liquid enough to ‘leak’ within an hour or so of death. She shot the guy the night before the party.

That was my problem. That tarp (with the body) was way over in the corner. I can’t believe someone shoved it all the way over there without saying “WTF is in here…it feels like a body” Also, we have to assume someone moved it over there since A)I’m fairly sure she left it in the middle of the room (remember the circular saw scene) and B)when she yelled at those workers to stop opening the tarp, that’s about where they were and she clearly thought that tarp was her tarp. Also, there should have been a big blood stain on the floor that you’d think someone would have questioned it. Though technically by morning it would have been a brown stain that most people might not recognize as blood.

I also think it’s fair to assume that Bridget had enough money in that bag to skip town and lay low for long enough for the heat to die down. But no, all of a sudden she has this mother/daughter attachment to Juliet… //.

She’s also played H.G. Wells on Warehouse 13, but she’s never had any “pardon my tits” moments on that one (unfortunately).

The first ep has finally broadcast in the UK. It didn’t grab me, but it was watchable, and I’ll watch the next one.

I’m bumping this to see what people thought of the most recent episode. The opening scene where Andrew found out about her really caught my attention until they revealed that it was a dream. But at the end, when she told Gemma who she really was, it could start getting interesting…other then the fact that the previews make it look like Gemma is going to tell everyone who she really is next week, but of course that isn’t going to happen…right?

Ringer’s ratings are plummeting.

I have no idea how to read that, but I’ll admit the show really isn’t that good and I’d probably wouldn’t miss it if it got yanked. But as long as it’s on I’ll stick with it. If nothing else it’s somewhat entertaining, if a bit contrived. But I’ll continue to say I’d rather it was created as a two or three season mini-series. I was telling my sister (who doesn’t watch it) that I think it’s going to get really stupid if she gets out of the current mess and something equally dramatic suddenly pops up in her life.

I have to assume that Siobhan will be coming home in the next week or two, if for no other reason then because they need a ratings bump.

Watched the premiere last night. It was dreadful. I did watch the whole episode, but spent most of it muttering “I’ll watch this first episode to see if things get any better, but I doubt it.” Nope.

Let’s see, rich lady has fake life, cheating on her own show husband with her best friend’s husband, now pregnant. Sister kept twin a secret to use in some plot to substitute, then murder her? Something about the drugged up sister causing the death of the other sister’s son - we don’t know the details yet, just the photo and the “you’re forgiven” crap that clearly isn’t true. Oh, and the teen stepdaughter kicked out of boarding school for drugs. Yeah, this show isn’t soapy.

Snerk. Yeah, that might have improved it.

Yep, spot on.

Oh yes, the special effects in this show were dreadful. They did better one girl playing twins in Disney’s The Parent Trap. The original one from the 70s. The boat and water scene? Ack. Buffy had better special effects. Hell, they’re on a par with Babylon 5 and their first gen CGI. Which is scary, given they were a syndicated show on a shoestring budget from nearly 2 decades ago.

That was pretty much a gimme in the first episode.

I think that was there attempt to show her as a recovering druggie and alcoholic, still looking a bit dreadful compared to her sister.

By the way - Siobhan = “Shivonne”?

Yeah, it’s Irish. I used to work with a bunch of folks in Irelands, figuring out the names was always tricky.

Niamh - Neev
Sioned - Shunaid
Aoife - Eefa
Aislinn - Ashlynn

Sadly it’s all too understandable. I really wanted more of a kick ass, action drama. Suspense is great but it has to be balanced with some action. With Ringer we’re getting a lot of soap and some suspense.

I had a friend named Siobhan in college. She went by Chevy (pronounced Shevy like the car not Chevy like the actor). She got less questions about her name that way.

By the way, I watched the premiere of Nova Terra over the weekend. They mostly had better special effects, except I noticed one scene toward the end that used green screen for a large vista from a mountaintop scene, and the visual was almost as jarring. Maybe their budget ran low? They went to the same effects studio? Or TV effects just aren’t up to movie budget levels?

Then take the crew out on the water. As I said earlier, it (Ringer) reminded me of old SNL skits with how bad they were. It’s like they weren’t even trying. They were one step away from having an off camera employee tossing buckets off water on them.

Keep in mind, it’s on the network that kept Veronica Mars on the air for three years despite it being one of the lowest rated shows around.

Not saying this is Veronica Mars quality TV (oh hell no not saying that) just that if there’s a network out there where a low rated show has even a ghost of a chance, it’s this one.

Agreed. It practically made my eyes bleed.

SMG was on Conan one night last week and it was mentioned the show’s been picked up for a full season.
