Buffy on FX: What are they cutting? (Plus a question on Faith)

I believe Weird_AL_Einstein is referring to the episode Amends, in which Willow invites Oz over to her house while her parents are away. This is their first time together alone since Oz & Cordelia walked in on Willow & Xander’s kiss. Willow does in fact seem to be ready to sleep with Oz. She says to him:

Willow (to Oz): “Well, you know, we’re alone. We’re both mature younger people. And so… we could… I’m ready to… with you. We can do that thing.”

It think that that the reason Willow is so upset by learning about Xander & Faith is that she clearly still has feelings for him. Even though she is committed to Oz, I imagine that in the back of her mind she still had fantasies of her & Xander losing their virginity to each other…

I suppose that’s as good an explanation as any. This is an even denser emotional and psychological thicket now that Willow is…ahhh, but I shouldn’t tell you, because:

Very sorry about that. Hadn’t occured to me that anyone would be doing that. Looking at the schedule at FX, you’ll be caught up by the end of the year though.

Well, yeah but…that’s kinda cheating, imho. I mean, did they just get real lucky, that the guy the mayor summoned happened to owe Giles a favor? Sounds gimmicky to me…

??? I don’t remember this at all. Damn…

Correct. Though of course, Willow’s parents always seem to be “away”…

Jeezy creezy, I don’t know, maybe the mage is the only one who can do the spell. Maybe the gang just got lucky. Maybe Giles owned a pan-dimensional dating service and there are happy netherworld couples all over the place because of him. Just take a deep breath and repeat: “It’s just television…it’s just television…”

I don’t know episode titles. It’s the ep where Spike and Dru reassemble The Judge (right after Angel goes grrr) and Xander and Cordelia break into the army base. Oz and Willow are sitting in Oz’s van waiting for them and Willow asks Oz if he wants to kiss her. Oz says no because she’d be using him to get back at Xander, etc.

Yes, a fan of Bloom County, Star Trek (DS9 was my favourite, though - I have 2/3 of the episodes on tape and a worn out guide to the show) and I love the Simpsons (I just missed out on buying the first season on DVD). I’m not single, but I’m more than happy to bask in adoration from afar. Plus, I’m always up for a conversation on Buffy.

I do know the episode titles…

The episode where Oz turns down Willow for a make-out session was Innocence, and as previously mentioned, the episode where he turns her down for sex was Amends.

Although it’s been discussed…

I understand why Willow was so upset to hear that he’d lost his virginity to Faith. For one thing, just because you’ve moved on doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt to hear about how the one you loved for so long moved on. This, from personal experience. Also, Willow felt like Faith (for a while) had been taking over her role as Buffy’s best friend. There’s a scene where she’s all depressed because Buffy blew her off to go do slayer stuff with Faith. She felt left out. And of course, it had to be Faith who got where Willow desperately wanted to go, and never did. I mean really, first Xander dates Cordelia, then sleeps with Faith. And then, of course, he dates Anya who tried to kill Willow in Doppelgangland. What is up with that boy?

Willow’s parents…

…are always away. This is one of her complaints. They never pay any attention to her. The only time we see any parental interest at all is when Willow’s mom tries to burn Willow at the stake. Yikes.

Well bask away my dear. And if your SO ever decides to let you have a “virtual boyfriend” (the way some people around here do it, I understand) give me a call. I’ll be your Opus…or your Bart Savagewood, whatever you like :D.

Ahhhh, Willow and Xander…star crossed lovers destined to ever reach for each other, but never touch. Or something like that.

Aaaaaahhh! The pain! It burns! To all the people who assured me that FX wasn’t cutting anything…you were wrong! Not only do I now know that there were subtitles in “Living Conditions” that were cut from the FX version for reasons unknown, but now, after having just seen “Something Blue”, I went and read an episode synopsis here and saw this:

Spike’s bit here was cut! I rewound the tape to be certain…it isn’t there!

I am…in pain. This was a minor but important bit of character development. What else have I been missing???

In the marathon on Thanksgiving, we saw Spike say that (I’m damn near positive, I remember it, and I know I didn’t see it on whatever network it first aired.) Not sure if this is character development though, more character illumination. Spike seems to always have had a really good handle on people’s emotional states, especially when it had to do with love gone bad. (In “Lovers Walk” didn’t he see Willow & Xander and Buffy & Angel? Whether or not he cared is a different thing, but identifying it wasn’t a problem for him)

But I’m sorry if I was wrong. I was sure FX wasn’t cutting, and apparently they are -

Hey, I assured you that Space wasn’t cutting anything. I got the subtitles in my version.

Something Blue hasn’t aired here yet, but so far the only thing I seemed to have missed was the teaser of Gingerbread, but only because the cable went down for 5 minutes. On the other hand, I also have Hush in my rotation of reruns, and I hear that FX doesn’t.

OK, glad someone bumped this because I have a question on an ep that just aired locally (but it’s been on FX so it’s OK). I think it’s “Amends” (I wish they’d put the titles up on the screen). It’s the one where it snows in Sunnydale and Buffy is confronting The First. Do we know for sure who sent Angel back from Hell? The First claimed that it did so he could fulfil his “destiny” of Doing Something Very Bad To Buffy, but I think that’s a lie. I don’t remember from watching Angel if it was ever stated that the Powers That Be sent him back or how exactly he returned. Fill me in?

I’m sure it wasn’t mentioned on Buffy, but it seems to me that it was somewhere in the first season of Angel. I glanced over the episode guide. It might be in the first episode where Doyle explains how he was sent to guide Angel with his visions. Anyone else have a better memory?
