Buffy S.8 (w/ pics from new comic)

Have we heard about this before?

Joss Whedon has also stated that a canonical Buffy comic series will be released[sup][1][/sup]. This series will be an official continuation of the original television show’s story and will serve as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8”. They will probably tie in to a Spike movie if that project is greenlit. The comics will be released from March 2007 onwards[sup][2][/sup], with art by Georges Jeanty and covers by Jo Chen.

Blair Marnell announced on his ‘All the Rage’ column some things he had heard about the series in July 2006:

“I’ve heard a few things about the forthcoming Buffy season eight comics. As Whedon himself noted a few weeks ago, the first mini is going to be four issues and he is also laying out the story for the rest of the season. I’ve been told that the storyline is roughly 20 issues, spread across multiple miniseries and that Whedon will be recruiting some of his former Buffy writers to handle the bulk of the writing chores, though Whedon may return to write the “season finale” himself.”[sup][3][/sup]

I’ve been looking forward to it for a few months.

So what’s hilarious about the psuedo-Buffy dating “The Immortal”? I barely recall the Angel episode that was in.

anyone have a link where I could sign up fer a subscription?

If anyone else is wondering, the new series is expected in March 2007

My problem with Buffy as comic book is that in past Buffy comics I’ve had trouble differentiating the female characters. In the artwork Buffy looked kind of like Tara who looked kind of like Anya, and Faith looked sort of like Cordelia. Willow was the only redhead so she was easy to pick out in the drawing. Now in season 8 Cordy, Tara and Anya are dead, presumably. I know the artists don’t want to draw the characters to look too much like the actress who portrayed them for good economic and legal reasons but still I find the comic book format annoying.

Thanks, I will give this a look.
