Buffy’s Angel Reunion Nixed

From here:

You know, I’m fine with this, really. The show was certainly strong enough without her in it, no reason to bring her in simply because it’s the end.

The best ever treatment of the B/A relationship on ATS was Cordy and Wes in the teaser for Fredless.

If you don’t remember, go back and watch it. Then you’ll see what I mean.

I’ll second the nod to Fredless. That was classic.

I’m of the opinion that Buffy’s (as a character, not SMG the actress) a spoiled brat anyway, but maybe I’m in the minority there.

Hmm, maybe I read it wrong, but the article I read in TV Guide said that the last episode hadn’t been filmed yet and that the producers were doing everything in their power to get SMG to appear in it.

But they did promise that whether she shows up or not, her the battle between Angel and Spike to be her soulmate will be resolved.

TVguide had two articles. One said she’d probably be there. then the very next day, said she definitely would not be.

Lest you be concerned on the accuracy of the second report, CNN and EW.com also picked up the story.

I’ve been doing the dance of joy since yesterday.

I don’t share the antipathy some here seem to have for the character Buffy, and I think that if Angel had been given a whole sixth season to wrap up everything, a guest appearance by the Slayer would be warranted (and certainly Willow, and maybe Xander, Dawn, Faith and Giles, and what-the-heck, why not dig up Cordy, Doyle, Drusilla, Anya and Tara?). These guest appearances would all preferably be done before mid-season, so that the FG could get back to their own resolutions. But with only five episodes to conclude the series, it’s best that the focus remain on the primary characters, with no special distractions.

Oh well…

Hmmmm…the way you’ve written it, you seem to be including Druscilla in the list of the dearly departed. Maybe I missed it…is darling Dru, in fact, dead? (Well, she already was dead…perhaps I should say dusted?)

No, Dru isn’t dusted. He’s probably thinking of Darla.

I was under the impression (from what I’ve read in SFX mag) that SMG doesn’t ever ever want to play Buffy again, on TV, in a movie, on the radio, stage, anywhere, never.

So whatever became of Dru?

I’m sure Charisma Carpenter and Amber Benson would be glad to come back (assuming the writers could come up with plausible and satisfying reasons to bring the characters back), but I’m under the impression that Emma Caulfield wants to be done with Anya. And, sadly, Glenn Quinn, who played Doyle, died some time back. :frowning:

I loved Buffy, the show and the character, however, I can not say I’m unhappy that, whatever the reason is, SMG is not making an appearance on Angel. The only reason for her to do so is to settle the matter of The Triange and I’m just not sure I want it settled for sure. I don’t like her & Angel as a couple and I’m not sure that, despite the fact I’m all about Spuffiness, they would let her wind up with Spike on a show called Angel.

I’m very excited to see what Joss has in store for us when the show comes back in April. My heart is weeping at the thought of a television season without a Whedon show. :frowning:

I am glad that she is not appearing on Angel for the simple reason that it is his show: hers has already wrapped. She didn’t need Spike, she didn’t need Angel, that portion of her life was closed and she could now go back to trying to be what she always claimed she wanted: a normal girl.

But I did always think that Buffy would find normalcy boring.

Regardless, this is Angels show and he and his supporting cast needs to have their arcs completed, not waste valuable screen time rehashing over crap that wasn’t interesting back in 1998.

Imho, of course.

(1,500th post here. And on a Buffy thread, to boot. My wife will be proud. )

Actually, I was thinking of Dru. For some reason, I thought she was gone, hence her only appearing in historical flashbacks and as a form taken by the First.

I need to pay better attention. :smack:

Oh, so that’s why Anya was killed in the Buffy series finale (I assume I need no spoiler box here). I had assumed that she and Spike had died because the final destruction of Sunnydale was meant to kill off all demons in the area, and as those two were both technically demons, they both had to go.

And I had forgotten that Glenn Quinn had died; once more, I should pay closer attention to what I post.

Her being a form taken by the First doesn’t mean that Dru, the vamp, was dead. Dru, the person died long long ago, therefore technically was a form the First could take.

Buffy a spoiled brat? Not sure about that. SMG however…welllllllllll!

I will be severely disappointed however if AtS ends without a visit from Mrs Denisof (Alexis, ya lucky bastard- you hurt her & I’llkillya! j/k!)

I’ve heard that

Dawn will show up in one of the last 3 episodes

and even that

We will get a brief shot of Buffy, but she will be played by a stunt double
