Buffy Summers v Anita Blake v Blade

On the same general idea as the classic Starship Enterprise v. Imperial Starship thread, who’d win in a three-way battle between vampire slayers/hunters Buffy Summers vs. Anita Blake vs. Blade.

Discuss.

Buffy. She has the best quips.

Probably Anita; she kills pretty casually and likes guns, not bare hands or blades or stakes. Basically, I see Buffy getting a bullet to the face right off, then Blade probably gets shot while trying to get in range for hand-to-hand.

Never heard of Anita Blake, so I will not count this person. Blade kills Buffy.

No, no, we’re going about this all wrong. It doesn’t at all matter that Blade would shoot Buffy and Anita would sex-magic Blade and all that.

Here’s the real deal: Slay-off. Pit them against each other, not directly, but in events. Obstacle Course, Slayer-vs-Vampire Marathon, where vamps are dropped into a room, increasingly strong, until the slayer falls. Then the main event, slayer and three allies, dropped into a strange city, get two weeks, with points for number and quality of slays, rated by a panel of impartial judges. I volunteer myself.

Both Blake and Blade are cool with regularly using guns, which gives them an edge over Buffy, I think. Blade has the enhanced strength and stuff, but Blake wins out, I think, being a necromancer and all.

ETA: although I think Blade would win a slay-off. Guy has quite the work ethic. No real time off for sleeping with the enemy (falling for the enemy, sure, but he doesn’t get…distracted the way Buffy and Blake do)

Anita would never get the invitation since all she does is have sex any more. Back in the beginning; she’d spend all her time hand-wringing over ethics and be-moaning her lot in life.

She could do away with Blade in an instant, but would she? With Buffy, it’d take her at least two, largely plotless, books before Buffy was taken out by someone else.

So I vote for Anita, because L. Hamilton likes her little cash cow more than the other originators.

You gotta count allies. Don’t know what Blade or Blake has backing them up, but Buffy’s got a world-class witch, a couple of badass vampires, and (depending on the season) either an organization of wizards or a cadre of slayers at her back.

Anita has anything dead backing her up. She could technically get Blade to kill himself.

Then there’s the were-animals, ghouls, witches, and assorted psychos you’d have to wade through.

Y’know, I think I’ve read too many of these books…

I almost agree with Ashes-Ashes, but see, Anita would be just about ready to stake Blade, when she would suddenly get all hot pants for him, since he’s clearly a lousy guy to be in a relationship with. So she would instead claim that she was “forced” to fuck him to satiate the desires of the ardor.

In mid-coitus, Blade cuts her into ribbons. Then proceeds to make quick work of Buffy and the Scooby gang. While Spike is making witty comments, Blade shoots him in the face then guts him.

I’m not a huge fan of Blade, to be honest, but at least he can stay focused, and not constantly be eithe fucking (Blake), or falling in love with (Buffy) her chosen things to kill.

Blade isn’t undead, he’s a congenital half-vampire or somesuch. I don’t think necromancy would work on him (leaving aside the completely different natures of the two series’ vampires)

For what it’s worth, didn’t Doctor Strange bring Blade as back-up when killing Dracula?

Then Ash Williams comes running through, fumblekills them all.

Anita has a whole group of vampires and hundreds of lycanthropes of several varieties she can call on to various degrees, plus she’s a US Marshal, preternatural division. Plus Edward the assassin and his buddies. So she has the others beat there, especially given that as a Marshal she technically has the US government as an ally.

I just thought I would share my ignorance. (I can’t really answer the question, since I have only seen Buffy.) Anyway. When I read this thread title I thought to myself “What does the homophobic singer from the '70s have to do with vampires? Huh. Must be a joke.” Came back to the thread to see that I was all wrong. And to clear up any confusion I googled the phrase Anita Homophobe and Anita Bryant was the first link and then looked up Anita Blake on wikipedia. Ignorance expelled. The end.

Anita Bryant would get all distracted by Willow.
