Buffy vs. Tarzan

Who would win in a fist fight, Buffy or Tarzan?

feel free to elaborate

Let’s see, the girl with superpowers or the guy with his dick hanging out of his shorts.

Buffy doesn’t even break a sweat.

Exactly. Vampires are stronger than men, and Buffy is stronger than quite a few of them.

Buffy will be sweating, moaning, and otherwise expressing ecstasy, cuz Tarzan gonna tap that ass.

Tarzan wrestles for the win against plenty of things who are stronger than men; he’s not just good with a knife, he’s a pretty danged experienced leverage-grappler.

Buffy’s superpowered.

Tarzan’s just buff.

There’s no contest.

(And they wouldn’t make out. Tarzan’s breathing, and Buffy only experimented with that once. >_>)

Watches a shitty Buffy fight on Youtube.

Watches Tarzan do crazy shit to giant snakes, elephants, etc, on Youtube.

Tarzan.

She wouldn’t even be able to get to him. He’d be climbing around on the walls, hopping from place to place throwing his spear or whatever.

Sorry to all the Tarzan fans but there’s just no way he wins. John Clayton a.k.a. Lord Greystoke a.k.a. Tarzan of the Apes is pretty much at the pinnacle, the absolute pinnacle, of what a non-super human can be. But Buffy fights and kills vampires. With hand weapons. Easily. 'Nuff said.

Tarzan ain’t necessarily a non-super human. At least one account places him in the family tree of other…uniquely talented…individuals. There may be some dormant mojo there…

Buffy would be hesitant about killing Tarzan, since he’s a pure human. Him, not so hesitant. You can’t hesitate in the jungle, or you die. He might be able to take her, but if his first attack isn’t a brutally fatal one, he loses to her powers.

Buffy novice here - please clarify Buffy’s powers for me.

I’ve never seen the movie and only seen a handful of the TV episodes. I’m guessing that she has enhanced strength, speed, agility and possibly resilience? Specific info and appropriate video clips would be nice.

General superpowered increase in the physical ways - strength, endurance, dexterity, etc.

Plus, vampiredar, occasional prophetic dreams.

She also has non super special skills: vampireslay-fu, cheerleader acrobatics, Scooby Gang, speechify.

The most highly trained military operative couldn’t beat her, even on enhancement drugs. So some jungle dude is not going to beat her. At best, he might surprise her and get the initiative on his home court.

Massively enhanced strength- we’ve seen her knock a 200-pound man across a room with one hand, and easily overpower vampires and demons whose strength is said to significantly exceed that of ordinary humans. A commentary in one of the episodes said that she actually strong enough that she had to pay close attention to keep from twisting doorknobs off and that sort of thing, but the writers never got that into an episode because every time they tried the scene came off like bad slapstick.

I think she’s supposed to have some enhanced reflexes and agility, but it’s never made clear how much of that is a superpower and how much is her rigorous training regime.

A lot of resilience. Another girl with Buffy’s powerset was hit by a speeding car and shrugged it off, and Buffy herself routinely shrugs off hits that would break bones or otherwise do pretty catastrophic damage to humans. She basically ends up being the team tank by the end of the show.

She also has mutant healing factor, although they’re inconsistent on how well that works: sometimes she just heals from fractures and cuts pretty fast, but at least on one occasion she was shot in the chest, and once the bullet was removed she recovered enough to safely fight within a few hours.

They’re extremely inconsistent on how this works, but I believe she is also supposed to inherit battle experience and certain memories from past slayers. I was never certain how pervasive this actually was though: on one end of the spectrum Buffy herself seems to rely mostly on library research, but later in the show other slayers are shown to know foes Buffy has faced on sight, and to recall their weaknesses, fighting styles, and the like.

Also, she very occasionally has prophetic dreams, although I don’t think they ever elaborated on whether this was a slayer thing or limited to Buffy.

In one of the episodes in season 4 she breaks the forzen yogurt machine at the campus cafeteria this way (while Riley is talking about her with his army dudes).

Also, she experimented with breathing guys twice, Parker and Riley…

Buffy would lose the 1st fight but survive. Then she would deal with other stuff (Dawn getting in trouble in school or something) and would win handily when she met Tarzan the second time.

Brian

In addition to what had been mentioned, she also occassionally comes back from the dead.

But her most signifigant ability is the power to erase the knowledge of any Buffy movie from her fans’ memories :stuck_out_tongue: (it’s at least considered non-cannon, if not non-existent)

Many thanks for the Buffyverse info.

Tarzan isn’t evil, so Buffy would pull her punches and the fight would end in a draw. Afterwards, each would go about their business, Tarzan back to the jungle and Buffy back to the Hellmouth.

“Dawn’s in trouble. Must be Tuesday.”
