After some major eye issues that happened last year when I was working overseas as a ‘digital nomad’ in Vietnam, and then having to return to Australia blind as a bat (well, not quite, but anyway) I have been unemployed since October 2022.
My eyes have now recovered enough to read a computer screen OK, but I have become quite used to being a sloth to be honest. I can ‘survive’ on unemployment benefits but it’s cutting it fine. It means my hobbies of travelling are essentially zilch. But being 63 now, the government is quite lenient about letting me languish on ‘the dole’ so I won’t get too much push to find a job.
But I was chatting to an ex coworker today, and our work (from home, fundraising for charities) is still a thing, and I got to thinking that maybe, MAYBE, I might go back for a few hours a week…enough to shove some money away for flights and accommodation in SE Asia anyway.
But, as I said, I’ve grown accustomed to being a lazy auld bitch.
well, i’ve done it before …!
and who said anything about beating you up ?!
I was planning to show you my holiday snaps from all 'round Asia & the south
pacific. Show you what your missing out on.
What about if we got Kath and Kim and Trude and Prue round to your place to give you a good talking to? We might even get Sharon to show you her flipper.
I don’t know, slothing around in Australia does not sound too bad. Could you not raise funds for yourself, or get the charities to pay you something as a visually impaired person that needs the money?
