Buncha slackers in the MMP! {OLD}

Howdy Y’all! Provisions were procured and much sloth ensued. That about sums it up for the day in swampland. Leftovers got et as well. We have discussed the possibility of gettin’ our haids shorn tomorrow mornin’. However, 'tis still TBD. Retired life be like that.

red glad Nelson is eatin’ some now. Hopefully he will get back to his normal doggie self soonest.

It was the initials of the small burb I lived in when I joined. So sorta like NYCGuy or ChiGuy, but I was living in LSL rather than New York or Chicago.

Every Mon, Wed, and Sat evening.

And sorry to disappoint y’all but I got that ticket. However I can assure you the Mumpfest held later this Fall to celebrate my win will be epic. And free to all Mumpers. The 7-11 clerk said “good luck!”, so the fix is in. If only.

Got my RSV shot as scheduled, plus hit the ATM and the drycleaners, and yaks with friends. So far 4 hours post injection no symptoms and slightly less injection site soreness than the flu shot to the same arm back on Sat. FWIW, the pharmacist noted from his computer that I had had the other 2 vaxxes a few days ago but not on the same day and commented that it was much smarter to spread them out. Another opinion and worth every penny we both paid for it.

Been a gray and intermittent light rain sort of day except for the 15 minutes of slamming rain and immediately nearby lightning. Dry now, 80/27 about an hour before sunset and all is well.

Soon we’ll set off to the local beer garden / German-themed place for brats mit kraut, bieren, und some sort of simple live music. Probably a guitarist with an iPad, not a full oompah band. Damn. But probably not so loud as the garage rockers they hire on weekends, which is good.

Hooray for Nelson’s recovery.

metal mouse, rotovirus tends to just run its course, kind of like a belly bug. I’ll crate him when I go to irk tomorrow, just in case of horkage or poopiness though. Right now, he’s milking the lap time.

I did manage to get a little rest, between the vet visit, making chicken and rice, laundering the cleaning rags and throw rug involved in horkage and doing a better scrubbing of the spot on the carpet that got a splash. Now, just hanging until bedtime with my pupper in my lap.

Up, having a martini and hockey. And teriyaki chicken stirfry.

Friend? I’d like to interview for the position of “paid drunken sycophant”. I dust, too.

Yay for Nelson’s recovery,red!

I deal with several people every day, especially in traffic, where this is a chilling thought. If that’s the one that won, how bad were the runners-up?

I was at irk.

Did not know these existed, will probably seek some out.

Thankfully non-exciting day, except for dealing with traffic idiocies. Biggest non-driving thing that came up was BossLady having a little more caffeine at lunch than she’s apparently used to. She was definitely zoomie-ing.

So glad doggo is better!

CHerman dinner was good, if a bit carby versus my ideal orthodoxy. The music was a lightly amplified acoustic guitarist who was trying real hard. Bravo for him. No rain all evening.

A bit before leaving for dinner I had the privilege of talking to “Peggy” in Bangalore about my dental insurance that I renewed last week that is apparently constipated somewhere in the insurance company’s plumbing instead of being in effect.

The website says 800-customer service is available from 8am to 11pm. Niiice. It does not say that at 5pm they hand the phones off to India and go home. Nor that India’s abilities are limited to misunderstanding your problem then transferring your call to the Stateside call center section that can probably help you. Followed by you hearing “Thank you for calling. Our offices are closed now. Please call back during 9-5. [Click!]” Thanks Peggy. And can I have that 10 minutes of my life back? Growl.

The BIBIR pot roast was very good. Nice and tender. The loose mushrooms are better than the ones that come in the little cardboard container. Also cheaper. Catmom gave Goo three pieces of meat, and I gave her one. (Cat mom says my pieces are too big.) Goo cleaned all of the gravy out of my bowl. Slow cooker crock is soaking.

A delightful trip to Ikea for more bookcases was enjoyed by us.

So, New Best Friend Candidate

Awwww.

Cute little girl. A bit worried about her possible difficulties with cats, though.

What happened to Colby? Has he found his home?

He basically needs a person with him 24/7 with the meds and side effects. just a tad more than I can do. :frowning:
And unless a former owner says “OK with cats” they all say “slow introduction”

Last night I got no sleep at all because of a really sore arm and felt feverish during the early hours. The shot giver put the shots far enough apart that I know it is the RSV that is so hurty.

I woke up tired and headachy and out of sorts, but still wanted to go to surplus produce because I met a chicken owner who works full time and so can’t get a surplus box, but can’t afford to give them a steady diet of store bought fruit and veggies. He had no idea his birds liked carrots and apples until I gave him some, so I like to spoil his birds for him because spoiling animals is what we specialize in.

I was planning on going back to bed after I picked up the boxes, but hubs told me he had an insurance salesguy coming over and I didn’t want to have to wake up and get dressed twice in the same day so I stayed up.

(Our homeowners insurance has doubled in 7 years, it’s time to go shopping again.)

Despite still being headachy and out of sorts, my arm was feeling better and I was thinking I would be going to Tai Chi tomorrow, but GG took my feet out from under me about an hour ago and now I have achy arm and achy hip on the other side and the chances of me getting any sleep tonight are pretty non-existent. I’ve already told hubs he probably will not want his hearing aids tomorrow and TC isn’t going to happen. Damn it, damn cats.

FCM and I came to an agreement about me obtaining one of her super cute dragons but I needed to write her a check. Just finding the check book was a challenge (we write one check every three months) and then I had to come up with an envelope and a stamp. Finally I had the check sealed in the envelope and put it under my hat to take to the post office while I was in town yesterday. I took it all the way to town and brought it home again. Today I took it with me to produce which is just a block from the post office, then I brought it home again. Hubs was kind enough to take it to the mailbox at the junction for me because both us were getting sure that if it was left up to me, that envelope would end up coming to Texas with me because I would keep forgetting about it once I was in the car.

I got my choice of a dozen cheap gifts and selected a small plastic globe. Go me!

Living without stairs will be so much better for you. Which bedroom are you going to take, the one with the outside door?

GG thinks there is a place in the world for loveable but not so smart pets.

Adam however is a smart kitty who is being a jerk because cats are jerks. I know you can’t keep him inside forever, but do try to keep him inside for a week or so to convince him that he has a new home.

I’ve had cowirkers that were always much more useful if they spent the day on their phone.

We once lived with a cat who loved to sing in the shower. Her favorite were operas that she belted out with much emotion and power. Once we moved to a different place that didn’t have a glass walk in shower, nothing else worked properly to amplify her lovely voice so she stopped singing altogether :frowning:

I am so glad it is easily treatable, poor lil pup and poor you.

We had ours replaced a couple of months ago and it is so quiet that I have to look at the switch to know that it is turned on. Works a treat as well.

She looks and sounds like the perfect girl for you. What a cutie!

Strike while the iron is hot. I have no doubt Spot will have her cat-buffaloed in the first 3 minutes.

@dogbutler, I was prowling old threads and came across this post of yours. When did you meet Spot again?

doggio Paula looks like such a sweetie. I hope things work out. She looks smrt, too, so’s if you got 2 clever animals around the house, you might be in for some…good times.

I’m so frustrated that “frustrated” is insufficient. Close your windows and cover your ears, Mumpers: ***FRIIIIIIIICK!***Also, cozzo, merde, and other expressions of mia madre.

The PA sent the order to the PT dept. at the ortho clinic last Thursday. I never heard back, so yesterday I called and had to leave a VM. No problem, as the outgoing message said they return calls within 24 hours. Liars. So I called again, and this time I reached someone! Yay? Nope. The soonest appointment available is 10/18, 3 weeks away. That will make it about NINE WEEKS post-op. Most patients start PT 1-2 weeks post-op. Also, that first session will be another assessment, as they don’t have the one the first lazy-ass PT place did. Also, I leave on 10/22 for 2 weeks in Seattle, and when I tried to book a second appointment on 10/21, I couldn’t: the PT will decide how many times/week I go after the assessment.

I swear, every freakin’ medical situation I’ve had since moving out here has been ridiculously slo-mo, including the cancer.

OK, rant over. Cookie, when did you start PT? How many sessions per week?

red, I’m relieved to hear Nelson’s diagnosis and that he’s improving. Scritches from the PNW.

doggio, Paula sounds like a sweetheart, and I like her sweet face. Since she’s just 4, you’d have her a long while.

My daughter agrees.

This sounds like a cat opera in itself.

New Side Door Light verdict: freakin’ bright, man. It’s that obnoxious blueish LED lighting, too, but I guess it’s better than no lighting.

I wonder if I could find some kind of translucent shade to cut the glare & give it a warmer cast.

Meanwhile, it’s a nice night and I’ll be up for a while, so Monkey has been allowed outside, with his reflective jingle-bell collar on, of course. (He managed to ditch the last one, the little shit. Good thing they’re cheap. { makes quick Amazon pit stop } )

Brought home some lettuce from work; we used none so there was plenty left over. I’ll be honest; most of the time, it just sits in my fridge for a few days till I toss it, but it’s getting pitched at the end of the night no matter what, so I figure, this way, there’s a chance I might eat some salad.

We were really quiet again. There’s a shitload of local road closures, so we figure that’s probably discouraging people.

Ah, shoot, I backed out of the thread. Imma post this & come back to finish reading what y’all been up to last few hours.

I like the spot-within-a-spot on her ear!

Can Dr. Google prescribe some gentle, easy exercises you can safely do yourself at home?

Alright, time to go see about retrieving el gato, and perhaps finding something tasty in the freezer.
