Buncha slackers in the MMP! {OLD}

Does he wear one of those supportive back brace thingies? If not … can he?

Back pain is Teh Suxx, and it definitely doesn’t get better with time.

Or age.

Man, I gotta get my shit together uhh feces in a file um, poop in a group. I’ve been beyond slothful all day. I don’t really wanna put on pants and go to the Gettin’ Sto’ but Future Shoe is gonna be mighty pissed with me if I don’t.

MLB.TV is the ideal way to watch all the games you’re too far to drive to. They (MLB itself) expects you to attend all games within driving distance in person. Broadly the same situation obtains for NFL, NBA, & NHL. By design. The leagues set up broadcast / streaming licensing that way to avoid gutting their in-person attendance.

AFAIK, there is no effective legal subscription service to solve the problem of watching all the games of your local team(s). So either forget about trying to watch most local games, or develop a new favorite team in another city. That’s where moving across the country helps; you can root for the team in your old hometown with no blackouts on e.g. MLB.TV or NFL Sunday Ticket or …

And dayum kiddo, I’d be properly stressded by all that stuff too.

Hope you can get the small problems worked out before the become big ones.

Howdy Y’all! Not much to report from swampland. A very slothful, uneventful day. We napped. We day drank. I did make sup, which I suppose counts for productivity. So go me for that. Tomorrow we shall make up for today. I get jabbed at eight-thirty in the a.m. Then we shall go do stuff and be bears who brunch. Of course that will wear us out so we’ll be all slothful and useless again. It’s a vicious cycle I tell ya!

except for Yankees games. I live near DC, and my inability to watch Yankees games has been my entire sports-related rant since I cut the cord last month.

I know better than to try to stream the Nationals (or the Orioles, who I care not one whit about despite largely growing up near Baltimore). But it turns out that even if you pay for a one-team plan with MLB.TV and choose the Yankees, the Yankees network (YES) has a stranglehold on any game they broadcast…which is pretty much all of them. The only way to stream those games if you live outside the NY area is to pay for a $100/mo DirecTV plan (not even their cheapest plan!), which would totally defeat the purpose – and savings – of dropping cable in the first place.

So, as I said, MLB.TV is utterless useless to me. Luckily the single-team subscription wasn’t expensive, but I won’t be renewing it.

At first I thought I’d found some relief in Amazon Prime, which was scheduled to stream a handful of Yankees games this season, but it turned out some those games were subject to the same YES restrictions. And I have no idea what happened to the Yankees game they were supposed to stream last night: I didn’t note which one they actually showed, but maybe they decided to go with a matchup that actually still counts for something this season. :woman_shrugging:

It’s just in for an oil change, and I told them I don’t want any expensive repairs… So we shall see.

Actually, I’m worried that something may happen while we’re gone…

Tobias had fun at Wiggle Giggle. There’s a video on my FB page if you’re bored…

CVS texted us that they don’t have any COVID vaccine so our appointment is canceled. Dr’s office didn’t have any either. So I need to make another appointment, and I’ll include MIL this time.

I sent Progresso Soups a nasty-gram. I got a can of Italian Wedding Soup that didn’t have any meatballs in it. Dammit. I love that soup, but it needs its meatballs!

GRRRRRRRRR.

OK, chillage is in order.

I had seen and read all your rantage, but from that I had mistakenly concluded that you must live in / near NYC since those were the f***ed up games you were experiencing. I hadn’t known you were near DC.

If somebody had told me one team in MLB has extra greedy extra-restrictive business arrangements for broadcast / streaming I’d have guessed it was the Yankees. Turns out I’d have guessed right.

Sorry about giving useless info.

Her Ladyship launched off for Mah Jongg just as I left for the dentist. Once cleaning was done I had a free afternoon. Hung out here a bit then went to the pool. Just in time for the clouds to fill in and it gets gray. Then the leaf blowers start. Arrgh. So much for relaxing suntan napping. Back upstairs & a mini snack.

Her Ladyship returns triumphant having won two hands and 75 cents net for the day. And announces she’d made a dinner date w a friend from church. Just those two, not me. This woman works south of us and lives north of us. And often calls just before leaving irk to see if she can meet for dinner with us on the way. The last several times it hasn’t been doable, so when the woman called today, Her Ladyship said “yes”. Fine w me.

So now I’m solo for dinner. Dash off to a little hole in the wall I’d been seeing for years that by coincidence a friend had recently mentioned was really good. They have a taco food truck and this is their fixed base location. In the side of a convenience market attached to a Mobil station. Tres classáy. Anyhow, I have 3 ginormous and wonderful tacos and a bottle of Modelo for well under $20. Yumm. And the two Amerindian-Mexican women working the place were super sweet. I’ll be back. Solo. Not really the sort of place to take a lady on a date.

I am so sorry this still isn’t resolved, but I don’t think the medical delays are just local. We have a terrible time out here because so many doctors got burnt out during the plague.

I really hope it gets sorted out soon, your window is closing :frowning:

She was quite the Diva…her name was Princess and she lived up to it every day, LOL!

I wondered about that. Some people like it bright as noon all night long and others of us like the restfulness of a full moon in the summer sky. Plus, bright flood lights run the bats off :frowning:

I agree that replacing the globe would be best, you would better able to suit your own needs then.

Go you! T’would be great if you could reach the craft show’s goals before even setting up your table!

Choosing to give up one’s life to care for someone else just because they are related by birth (but not bound with love) is a fine and noble act, one to be admired. I wouldn’t do it for anyone but Mom or hubs, my sisters are on their own.

Please start looking for placement now lest FCD guilts himself into moving BIL in with you two. Finding placement for a mentally ill person always takes longer than it should, so allow more time.

Oh ick, I am so sorry. I hope the noise doesn’t bother the kitties too much.

The lil jerkface is lucky he didn’t get smooshed! My butt is turning some interesting colors, but I’m pretty sure I will recover.

My check made it out to the car TWICE! I brought it in and bitched about forgetting it both times. I used to be great at multi-tasking, now I need a list just to go to town or I’d come back with half of what I needed mixed in with a bunch of stuff we don’t need, but I grabbed just in case.

Feel free to name her Mary. I’d love to read about “our” adventures!
[/quote]

I’m totally up for that, but do remember that some Marys can be bitches at times.

Thanks but I actually think it was the lack of sleep thing that was the big problem. When I was still working, getting enough sleep was way down on my overfull list of things to do and I got used to feeling like crap. Now that I’m retired and well rested on a regular basis, my whimpyness about feeling under the weather has increased ten-fold.

I’m fine today.

I turned 65 during the plague so not only did I get all of the covid jabs, I also got all of the old fart shots and I’m finally all caught up. It feels kind of odd to know that I won’t need to get vaxxed for anything for a whole year. Wow.

I wonder if it was the same company the State used. They were nice tchotchkes, but nothing I had room for or even wanted. The globe is very decorative, silver on black and small enough to have out in my hobby room because I like globes and maps. All of the offerings looked very nice, but I’ve seen some of the other ones and yeah…cheap.

That won’t happen. BIL doesn’t much like his big brother and the feeling is pretty much mutual. Part of it is jealousy, I think; mostly, I expect it goes back to their childhood and things I don’t know about.

The nicest gift I ever got from leaving a job was somebody made a copy of the poster Expose Yourself to Art and put my face on the statue and a co-worker’s face on the flasher.
I lost it somewhere, but it was a great gift.

We went to the new house to take in the table and Suprise! The sectional had been delivered too.
It was supposed to be delivered Saturday. No notice of it being delivered.
My son took all that in and the stuff in the truck, while I sat out back with the dogs. There were mushrooms in the yard. OAOASO’s dog died from eating mushrooms, so I wanted to keep an eye on the pups.
They played their little hearts out.
The bigger yard is nice for them.

I am not the most observant person. While sitting there, I noticed a stack of firewood in the corner of the yard. I thought why the hell would I need firewood. Then I noticed all the way in the back, there is a fire pit. I guess I can invite people over and we can roast weenies and make s’mores.

Because, unlike us, they only get 6-8 weeks of summer break.

Getting around by shanks’ mare was how my big bro got his nickname of Shank.

Italian wedding soup is pretty easy to make from scratch (I just made a pot Sunday) and, although Progresso makes a decent canned version, homemade is far superior.

Paula looks like a real sweetie doggio! Keeping fingers / paws crossed.

{{{nellie}}} Requiring medical care that isn’t being provided in a timely manner sucketh mightily.

Moooooom, I second the idea of checking into a facility for BIL now, rather than later.

BooFae, does the Nepalese place do momo (not sure of the spelling, they’re little dumplings)?

I hope that your bruises heal soonest JtC.

Well, today, stupidity was the trait assigned to my boss. First of all, I did the checks of the rack needing closed out as she asked and closed them all out. When I finished the rack, closing each (of 140) cartons, I attempted to palletize them (not literally a pallet, but a larger grouping used for transfer). I couldn’t. Apparently, the new process was written w/o any input whatsoever from IT, mainly, our company system’s IT group. So, for the last half hour, I began to scan each carton, open it up, then lock (rather than close) it and slap a sticker on the carton so I’d know which ones were done come Monday, when I finish the job. Oy, vey! In total, it will have wasted ~3 hours time. I just wish she would just stay out of my area.

Nelson appears to be feeling much better. He’s still not 100%, but he ate chicken and rice and noshed on a couple of Blue Bits (those are a surefire way to get him to eat). I’ll keep him on chicken and rice until he’s out. He gives the Mumpers who worry about him a couple of tail wags.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Much excitement on the other side of the fence. My back porch overlooks the back neighbor’s place. It was an empty rental and shortly after we moved here, a woman, man and two children moved into the 800 sf two bedroom singlewide trailer. There was always something happening back there, the man would leave and another man (with children) would move in and then they would move out and the man would come back with another family and children and the woman would get pregnant again, then the man would disappear etc. And they had bunch of untrained dogs that lived inside and chewed their shoes and stuff. So, of course they trashed the trailer and for whatever reason the owners didn’t patch it up and rent it out again.

After a few years, it went up for sale at a really outrageous price and a couple of flippers looked at it and shook their heads. A couple of months ago, it went down to 69G and there was a lot of interest and someone even bid on it but backed out after the inspections.

It sold two days ago for 60G and rumor has it the very reputable company that owns it is planning to drag the old trailer out and plant a nice new manufactured place instead. Even thought we will only see the back of the place, whatever they do will be an improvement to what we see now so that’s great.

The best part is that temps have dropped enough for me to sit out and supervise all of the goings on in a good retired nosy neighbor fashion.

So while i was posting I noticed that the new owners were there and went out to the fence to chat with them. I was able to tell them that the swamp cooler was only three years old so could probably be salvaged and that the furnace was six years old so might be salvageable as well. I also asked them to not take out the mesquite tree in the backyard and was pretty happy when they said they were planning on leaving it.

That sounds like a whole lot of straws in a very small basket. No surprise that you are running out of room. I know what you mean about your workouts, I never thought I’d look forward to a weekly exercise class, but here we are

Can they pass ear infections around between each other? Does it take both of you to put drops in their ears? Are you able to put cotton balls in their ears to stop them from shaking them out? (yeah, that never worked for our cats either)

Not so great on the bills end, but great for moving. I hope he goes to the doctor soon. Hopefully he already knows good body mechanics or is he too young to listen to crippled old farts when they are telling to NOT lift like that?

That’s the one I would have taken too. I once rented a old trailer with a door in the bedroom and while I was happy to move up to something nicer, I’ve always missed being able to open the door first thing in the morning for the breeze and fresh air. It just felt closer to nature than opening a window.

Eeeps! But at least you live in an area where people actually get vaccinated which is a good thing.

Guilt and familial obligation can sometimes cause people to make bad decisions.

Give him some Mumper scritches, we loves our lil red dawg! I’m glad he’s feeling better.

Up from naptime, watching Packers/Lions, and having a Mexican Firing Squad. Smoked Paprika chicken and a salad on the menu tonight.

I’d say I was sorry, but I’d be feline.

Yeah, we do ship a bit of govt stuff. but those idjits can’t even get a bad CR passed, even with the budget plan in placed.
The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn’t work and then they get elected and prove it. - P.J. O’Rourke

But there are other ways.

Technically she is a bitch at all times.

Echo and Misiu got some kind of medicine that will stay in their ears for a month. I’m sure it would take two of us to put drops in. It takes two of us to clean their ears and trim their nails.

Unemployment will be great for now. It’s not as much as he makes when he works a full week, but it’s more than he makes irking 5-6 hours a day. And no cab fees either.
I’m going to miss talking to the woman who picks him up every night.

I’m glad Nelson is feeling better.

Tomorrow is going to be a loooong day, I think.
We’ll go straight from the doctor to the new house, which irks well since the doctor’s office is about halfway between here and there.
I’m tired and ready for bed.

The word “legal” was an afterthought to placate the Mods. I almost added “(Hi Mods!)” after that word. back atcha.

FCM not that it helps you any, but COVID vax (or at least appointments) seems t be in good supply here. With luck you’re looking at a local and temporary disruption.

Jane: yaay for new owners which ought to preclude another episode of “Deliverance Refugees” for a few years at least.

Sari it’s great to hear things moving forward for you. Good that the dogs took to the new surroundings immediately.

My big accomplishment of the evening has been to serve out the last ounce of a scotch bottle so I could throw it away. I had a large bar at the condo with a lot of flavors of booze. All of which is rather underfoot here at the new smaller place. So without turning into a lush, the idea for the last year has been to pare down the number of bottles as quickly as possible by starting with the ones that are lowest. But then I get a gift, or something is on BOGO sale or … and the bottle count goes up again.

Been balconatin’ since shortly before sunset 2 hours ago. Long pants and a long sleeve shirt (left over from dressing for the frigid dentist’s office) is a bit warm in the 84/29 darkness, but helps keep the skeeters from getting in too many bites.

And now Her Ladyship returns from her dinner. Time to go.

Poke chop sittin’ in some salty-sweet rub for flavorings while I contemplate bebeh N.O.T. to go with.

I don’t give a :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: about sports … except for some lingering “Go Stars!” sentiment courtesy of that damn high school hockey player who was my first, back when I was seventeen … but I feel like, now that I am attempting to be a Michigander, I should make some feeble attempts at this whole “sports” thing.

Clearly, decades in TX didn’t rub off any luv for football onto me, but there, it was more of a “shoved down your throat” kind of thing.
So, let’s try again …

What does one say? “Go Lions?” Is there something more catchy? (“Grwwawrr!” ??)

I looked up the score and we are, apparently, smoking them into the ground for now.

So, um … yay?

Y’all shamed me. So I hopped online and made an appt at my pharmacy and got my Covid vaccine quick like a bunny…after Lyfting over to the repair place to pick up my car with its new ($$$) starter. I actually thought of getting the vaccine as a mood boost to soften the blow of the unexpected mongo car repair. I be weird.

Stopped at the fabric store to buy some Star Wars fabric to make two light saber holsters for the grandkidlets Halloween costumes. Plus a cover for the camping pad for the littlest one to sleep on~he refuses to stay in his toddler bed and falls asleep on the rug on the floor alongside his bed. He likes free range sleeping I guess. Also Star Wars fabric, just for fun. Star Wars seems to be the lingua franca of this extended family.

Between the fabric store and the successful vaccination I have mostly recovered from the Honda starter hiccup. Mostly.

I know, my life is so damn exciting.

Honestly? Our backyard is wide enough that the noise didn’t bother us so we could be entertained by the constant drama. The man all the kids called Dad would not allow the kids to do that horrible scream which was nice. I found the listing for those like me who can’t resist train wrecks. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/20515-E-Cactus-Wren-Dr-Mayer-AZ-86333/8787161_zpid/

For contrast, here is our first place. This one is a 1973 model as opposed to the 1971 model above. (It entertains me to see that many of our improvements are still there.) https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/20515-E-Zaragoza-Dr-Cordes-Lakes-AZ-86333/8787270_zpid/

Evening all. 25 messages in 12 hours, should have done an afternoon check. Ah well, did do my October shopping after remembering to get my check cashed at the bank this time. Then did some calorie cycling at the gym and coached soccer, so a fairly active day for me. Down below 70F outside so will be turning the AC off and opening up some windows again.

Cookie, hope you made through Costco OK.

Nope, but having dealt with more than a few cal;-in centers, the staffing there seems to be the same all over the world. Sounds like you finally did locate a competent one. And Yea! for finding one of those ‘holes in the wall’; they are precious.

Oopsie, stress doesn’t care if it’s big or small, but in piling up and grinding you down. Hope the stressors ease up.

Sari, is Sah-son looking around for other employment? Sounds like he could be doing better if unemployment is not that much less than what he’s making. And thanks for the moving and puppers updates.

red, I think the Fall/Spring breaks date back to when the kids were needed on the farms to either plant or reap the crops, depending on the season. Might be wrong about that, but given my county has added over 60,000 people since 2010 (and even more than that 1990-2010), there isn’t a lot of farmer’s sons and daughters in school these days. As sorry boss was being an idiot; it tends to go with the job title.

JtC, it seems like you may have lucked out with the best thing a homeowner can have; decent neighbors. Hope it stays that way.

OK, tackleball is at the half, so need to replenish my Diet soda and review other happenings around the internet. Take care all.

Whew! I have a PT appointment Tuesday! The surgeon’s nurse saw my plea and got me in sooner. I’m beyond relieved. Thanks for all the empathy, chums!

I limped to my PCP’s for my annual physical. He’s not my ortho guy but was shocked I hadn’t started PT yet. Hey, not for lack of trying, doc! He gave me a clean bill of health, so hurray for that!

We’ll be able to tell whom he’s talking about because Mary the Dog probably wouldn’t drag him onto roller coasters.

Is that you, Abe?

This sounds so Rockwell rural! I hope you don’t let young women swim nekkid in the water tower by the Shady Rest HOtel.

sari, I’m sorry your son got laid off, or should I be happy because now he can help more with moving, plus no late-night rides home to worry about? Re: his back, how’s his mattress? Since he’s sleeping so much, if his mattress isn’t up to snuff, it could really affect his back. I was amazed at how much better my back felt after I got a new mattress.

FCM, they might as well call Italian wedding woup without little meatballs Italian funeral soup. That’s mighty sad.

What time do you want us? I can bring chocolate and marshmallows. Maybe Doggio can bring the hooch.

Hehehe. I never leave the house without my beat up old floppy hat because I’m a weenie about the sun. If I want to be sure I take something with me, I put it under my hat because VBC often sleeps in my hat and I wouldn’t want to cause her any discomfort. (We just can’t understand how come we always get the spoiled pets.)

We ain’t got no HOtel out thisaway so the nikked young people swim in the Big Bug Creek out back. They ain’t got no hickory trees fer hanging clothes and the cactus thorns put terrible holes in their clothes which must explain all those kids wearing ripped up jeans.

Hubs will be bottling a new batch of mead next week…

By the time the place is up for sale, it will probably be close to 200G in price. Folks who pay that much for a brand new home usually take good care of it. At least that is what hubs and I are hoping!
