Burning ISO.BIN files.

So, I’m trying to burn a bootable RIP Linux rescue CD, because it’s the only tiny distro I can find that has partimage.

Anyway, I’m used to regular ISO’s. I’ve tried burning this one in Windows with a freeware app called DeepBurn that seems to handle regular ISO’s just find. The discs it creates from the ISO.BIN file, though, won’t boot.

Anybody have any idea what’s going on? A little bit of googling reveals something about needing a CUE file in addition to the BIN, but the distro maintainer doesn’t mention anything about it. His documentation leads me to believe that, theoretically, I shouldn’t have to do anything special with the burning software.

Maybe I should try this at home with cdrecord on my Linux box. We’ve only got one burner here at the office, and my boss probably won’t let me buy Nero for my little project.

:bump:

I think Nero Burning Rom is what you need.

You should be able to get a working trail version of Nero from their web site. When you have it down and installed just go to File and then *burn image *. Accept the default settings.

If you can’t get Nero then try MagicISO or the many other tools used for burning .bin files. Normally you do get a .cue with your .bin but you can live without it most of the time.

Thanks for the help folks, and sorry for the late reply.

The trial version of Nero didn’t work either.

But I’ve got a feeling that the problem was with the oooold CD-ROM drive puking on the CD-RW I was using. I tried it on a slightly less oooold machine, and it worked just fine, with both Nero and the (free) DeepBurn.

Here’s the DeepBurn home page, if anybody’s interested:

Thanks again.
