Bush Bumps AMERICAN IDOL to Wednesday

Read in the paper this morning that Prez Bush’s News Conference will disrupt normal tv viewing tonight. FOX is moving AMERICAN IDOL to Wednesday with results show Thursday, opposite SURVIVOR! Be aware!

I definitely prefer the other George.

You mean they aren’t pre-empting 24 for once? Oh glorious day! Faboo!!!

Sorry, Max, 24 goes, too. I understand 24 will air on Sunday night this week. (I just don’t think about 24 any more since I stopped watching once they put Kim in the CTU!!!)

God damn @#%ing #%-blowing mother%#@#er peanut-&%ed #%@&-smelling jackasses!!!

I have so little…

I don’t think a presidential address has ever lasted just an hour. Even if he only talks for an hour, they still have to spend another hour telling us what he said … which is usually nothing.
If only we could call in to vote him off.

Non-American confusion.

Why move anything? Is that not why Fox has a news channel?

Whenever a President give a so-called major speech, the major broadcast networks (ABC, NBC, CBS and, yes, FOX) are all compelled ( I don’t think legally, but it is sort of an understood agreement) to show the speech.

Presidents usually give the speeches after people get home from work, Eastern Standard Time. So, if it cuts into programming on the East Coast, they simply throw in repeats in the Midwest and on the West Coast…no sense broadcasting a new show that 1/3 of the US public will not be able to see.

Generally, these “urgent” speeches are boring crap that could just as easily have been blahblah-ed at 1:00pm in the afternoon. Usually, the effect is to piss off a lot of people who just want to come home and watch some mindless crap on TV after a long day at work.

My guess is, tomorrow there might be one or two quotes they will use from the whole speech, and 10,000,000 people will be pissed off because the speech interupted prime time television. Fine with me…maybe the swing vote will move in Kerry’s direction.

We now return you to our regularly broadcast American Idol thread…

Fox News (often called Faux News) Network is not available free-on-the-air, and most Fox Network stations are. So, they don’t reach as many households. However, all the Fox entities are run by the Wise And Powerful Rupert Murdoch. Rupert, as you may know, is a right-wing guy, and he’s not shy about throwing his weight around to help right-wing politicos.

Wasn’t Quentin Tarantino supposed to be a guest judge tonight? Hope this doesn’t affect his participation.

Sigh. Ah well, at least I can watch the Preds/Wings game without worrying about my vcr screwing up again.

24 will air at 9pm Sunday…same time as Law & Order CI…grrrrr

They’re still taping it tonight, so it shouldn’t have any effect.

The bastards put 24 on opposite of Alias next Sunday … dammit!

Oh, and as a friend said earlier today when we found out about Bush’s speech: Is he gonna say “The Sky is Falling”?
