Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld: slime-mold beetles

The article:

If any creature is going to be named after those three, I am glad it’s slime-mold beetles.

Why do you have such a low opinion of the lowly slime mold beetle?

Is he being sarcastic? So hard to tell these days…

Dude. Those poor slime-mold beetles. That’s harsh.

I was wondering that too, scr4. I sincerely hope so. That makes the story even better.

And it’s not the beetles themselves I have a lowly opinion of. Just their name. Their highly Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld name. “Slime-mold.”

On the other hand, there’s a species of louse that lives on owls named after Gary Larson. It was meant as a compliment, and Gary took it as such.

I mean to say that the louse lives on owls. Not necessarily owls named Gary Larson.

If some enterprising entomologist out there gathers up some of these bugs, kills them and mounts them attractively with their little scientific names identifying them, I will mostly certainly buy some on e-bay.

I’d love to buy a set of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld slime mold-eating beetles for my dad for Christmas. It’s the perfect gift!

If you’re going to do it, please, please let me know. And I will check and make sure they aren’t just some other kind of bug.

Thank you!

See, I think the scientist got it wrong.

Are there any slime spewing beetles out there?

THOSE should have the mentioned monikers.

Already done.

Buck Fush!
