Bush, Cheney arrests?

In sundays doonesbury, a character in the strip said that Bush and Cheney had 5 arrests between the two of them. Is this true? If so, when and for what?

Well, Bush and Cheney have been busted for drunk driving once and twice, respectively, so that’s three. Dunno about the other 2. Cheney’s 2 drunk driving charges came out right after Bush’s became public knowledge, but I can’t remember hearing how he pled and what, if anything, got entered on his “record.”

No, Trudeau is lying. He does this a fair amount when it comes to Republicans. He spread a bunch of lies about Dan Quayle being a drug dealer some years ago.

Bush was arrested once for DWI; Cheney twice.

Shodan

P.S. Was it Gore or his son who was arrested for going 97 mph in a 50 mph zone?

His kid, a few months before the election. Albert, Jr. if I recall correctly.

I doubt if Al Gore has driven a car since sometime in early 1992.

wrong. Three arrests for Bush. One conviction (DUI)
here’s the link (and note that the tone of it is ‘pro-Bush’)
two arrests and convictions for Chenay. The statement “5 arrests between them” is factually accurate.
The other arrests were in his college days, once for theft (charges dropped) said to be a frat prank, the other time for charging onto a football field and attempting to dismantle the goal posts, he was released on the promise to never go back there again.

Here’s the cite

Shodan, methinks that you take Mr. Trudeau a bit too literally…

Actually, Trudeau never said that Quayle was a drug dealer. What he was “saying” was that the republicans were keeping the guy who sold drugs to Quayle in gaol, on some sort of unconstitutional grounds. There had been some stories about this in mainstream media.

thanks to everyone for the answer(s).

O.K., give us half a dozen examples.

If its one thing I hate about the Republican’s it’s the whining. Doonsberry is pretty fair about picking on everybody. Just get over it. I don’t whine about Rush Limbaugh making fun of Democrats. (Although I have to admit he is usually not funny.) This strikes me as another case of that darn “Liberal Media.” Oh by the way, ITS A CARTOON! Get over it.

As far as the post goes, the only arrests that are meaningful are the drunk driving arrests. If that had gotten out in the primaries it would have tanked Bush. To be fair though, when they occurred drunk rriving was seen as a minor nuisance.

I second that motion. Actually, Shodan, given that http://www.Doonesbury.com has an extensive archive searchable by keyword, this should be particularly easy to do…right?
