I’ve just seen a new high-profile animated video-clip named “Second Term” (by JibJab Media Inc.) - the curiosity is that it was aired on the Czech Television PrimeTimeNews yesterday. People here (including me) consider it pretty funny, balanced and not too tough on the President. But after seeing other JibJab animations (and not being an USA citizen nor a Bush supporter) I started to wonder: how are those video-clips valued in USA by Republicans (including Dubya)? Do they find it rude or funny? And what about Democrats (Kerry has been mocked also)? Are those clips considered politically correct enough to be aired on ABC, CNN or (god forbid) Fox News?
‘‘I will stabilize Iraq in my second term!
I will amend the Con-sti-tu-she-un!
Then I’ll eliminate the taxes,
That are breakin’ all our back-siz!
And push for more priv-vat-i-za-she-un!’’
(To the tune of “She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain When She Comes”) Watch video here!
What El Zagna said. Most of the actual jokes are pretty dumb and have been done a million times (Bush = Dumb! Kerry = “Did I mention the Purple Hearts?”) but they’re light and bipartisan and let’s face it – things are funnier if they’re sung in a funny voice to a catchy tune.
They ran this on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night on NBC (one of the big three US networks). This is actually pretty tame political commentary, even by US standards. US politicians routinely dish out worse at dinner speeches and the like.
