Bush on war as game

I am trying to clear up something I said in a thread in the Pit.

I might have to take back my word there, and express sincere regrets.

Can anyone here knowledgeable trace any utterance of Bush where he uses the word ‘game’ in reference to the War on Irag?

Thanks, and I promise to be careful with my imagination in subsequent posts.

March 16, at the summit in the Azores, he said:

March 8:

Thanks a lot, Uncle.

That’s not a reference to the war, though. He was merely saying how Iraq was deceiving the UN arms inspectors. Of course, we have yet to see any of those NBC weapons W has referred to so frequently not that long ago.

In quote 1, I think it is fairly clear that the use of game refers to Sadaam’s actions regarding disarmament, moving of weapons, ignoring UN rulings/sanctions.

Quotes 2 & 3 use game in the same way. All refer to Iraqi actions prior to war.

Did some searching for Bush using game to actually describe using his military to attack Iraq, wartime activities, how he views war, etc and have yet to find anything. That doesn’t mean the quote doesn’t exist, but if you use the above quotes as proof of Bush viewing war as a game, you won’t be helping your point.

Dear Mullinator:

Very true.

That’s why for however embarrassing, I have to go back to the Pit and espress my sincere regrets for the liberty I took with ascribing to Bush a use of the word ‘game’ to refer to war on Iraq, even though no such usage so far has been located.

Also- that first quote is Blair, not Bush.

Welcome to the boards, and nice catch!
