Business model crossover: Star Wars universe = Apple; MCU = Google

Just pondering. Star Wars = closed system; directors fired if they don’t stick to the specific SW feel. MCU = take all inputs and integrate them into your system.

???

And yet both are Disney. What does that mean? I have no idea.

Disney are the Illuminati?

It’s more Kathleen Kennedy (Lucasfilm) vs. Kevin Feige (Marvel).

Although the premise isn’t perfect. Edgar Wright was fired for not wanting to tie in Ant-Man to the rest of the movies. The Russo Brothers were hired for three more movies after Winter Soldier to keep a consistent feel.

Yes, not perfect, although even an “open system” approach can reject some participants as well as look for some consistent elements.

Marvel comics can differ wildly depending on the creators. So, the MCU sort of reflects that. Star Wars needs to be kept consistent with Lucas’ original vision of the universe, at least eps. 4 - 6.

That’s my guess, anyway.
