But.you.told.me.tuesday. (lame)

Short to the point:
I’m replacing the transmission in my car. The damn mechanic told me that he could start work on the car last Tuesday and that it’d take a day-maybe two-he even penciled me in his calender for Tue. We discussed a time when I should drop off, I told him that I’d be renting.

So here it is Thursday and he DIDN’T EVEN START!
Stupid me, I thought when he said he’d start Tues meant that he’d start Tues. So Iv’e been renting a car since Monday. After work on Monday I dropped the beloved Pony-car off, then rented thinking I’d be renting till today. :smack:

Oh, tomorrow I’m picking up my car and new transmission wether(sp) or not it’s ready. I made an alternate last minute plan for installation. (I’ll prolly end up doing this project myself, on top of many other things I have going)

Oh, by the by, is there any legal recourse I could persue?

'Fraid not, somewhere in the fine print on your contract it probably says that the time to get the job done as well as the final cost are all approximate. However, you are free to lodge a complaint with your confidence and your money.

You could probably sue for breach of contract, but that would require much more time, energy, and money than your $200 rental.

Sam

We had a verbal, if that makes any difference.

Sure. Verbal contracts are worth the paper they’re printed on.
