Butt-Hurt Trump Takes to Twitter Again (Part 1)

WTF could be next, this worthless administration touting Protocols of the Elders of Mecca?

i meant to post this here.

In a week, we’ll learn from your President that Muslims are all cannibals.

Now, now, they’re not all cannibals. Some, I assume, are good people.

Who do you think they’re eating?

They don’t want people who are good, they want people who taste good.

Who is going to be this administration’s Ernst vom Rath?

To be followed by the rollout of his bacon-scented cologne to ward off the Muslim cannibals.

You know those kids whose pictures sometimes end up on milk cartons? Eaten by Muslims. Those ‘silver alert’ signs along the freeway, describing some old coot they’re looking for? Eaten by Muslims.

But you can learn more about these and other shocking truths currently being ignored by the Lamestream Media, simply by subscribing to my newsletter for the low, low price of $99/year.

WARNING: People denying the existence of Robots may be Robots themselves.

Let’s not be hasty. We could at least give him a toilet brush and a can of Lysol, see what he’s got…

He’s a germaphobe. He’ll demand a hazmat suit.

Yeah, well, you would say that. No robots, no Robot Arms, eh?

Have those videos actually been debunked? The only factual correction I have seen is that in one video, the man is said to have been born and raised in the Netherlands rather than being a “Muslim migrant”. No one that I have seen has claimed he is not Muslim, or that there is anything factually incorrect about the other videos. They just call them “divisive” and “incendiary”, and hint that they could lead to more terrorism, which is itself kind of a disturbing statement about Islam when you think about it. It reminds me of the people who said cartoonists shouldn’t draw Mohammed, as though that’s where the fault lies.

So there’s no misunderstanding, I am certainly not carrying water for Trump. He has incensed me just this week by blatantly lying about his tax plan and claiming it will be bad for rich people like him, not to mention making school lunches less healthy for kids. But like the proverbial stopped clock, I’m having trouble seeing where on this very specific issue he is wrong and Theresa May is right.

Snopes on the Dutch Crutch video

Dutch government response

Bonus Snopes from 2015

That Dutch government response is a Rohrshach test. I don’t see a great refutation, but rather just what I described. In response to claims that the boy is a Muslim migrant, the government says he is not a migrant, and the implication is clear: no dispute of the Muslim part. Then the rest of it is just ad hominem against the person who posted the videos, plus an odd mention of the attacker having been put through some sort of alternative juvenile justice program that sounds like it was a slap on the wrist. Who is that supposed to impress?

And instead of people losing their minds and insisting that Twitter should be blocking these videos, why don’t they just calmly make the case that they are misleading or unrepresentative? Cite whatever statistics are needed to make your case and let people judge. But don’t use statistics as “damn lies” like people do when they try to claim that white guys commit more terrorism than Muslim immigrants do in America, when as a percentage of each population that is not even close to being true.

Is that even their point to dispute? His citizenship status and his age would, I assume, have a bearing on the outcome of the case, so the government would have to have some record of those things. They wouldn’t necessarily even know his religion.

If something like this happened in my county, I’d expect the prosecutors to know if it was a juvenile case, and probably to know if the offender was a US citizen, but not to have any easily-accessible record of the offender’s religion. Someone might now, but you wouldn’t be able to look it up in the computer and see the “Muslim: N” field in the database.

There’s no evidence for the Muslim part. Just as with discussions on this message board, the onus is on the people asserting that he’s a Muslim to back up their claims. Otherwise, they’re just repeating something they read in a comment section.

As I said upthread, I don’t think it matters whether they’re real or not. Hundreds of violent attacks of <person of X ethnic group> on <person of Y ethnic group> happen every day somewhere in the world, for any X and Y that share countries.

If the point of sharing these three videos is to say “Some Muslims are violent (or vandals)” then well, duh. You can say the same thing of any large group.
The only point of sharing a set of videos like this is to say “Look! Muslims simply are violent” i.e. to engage in bigotry. Make a visceral image of what you think all Muslims are.

Did they specify what kind of terrorism? Because in the US there have been a number of hate crimes that I think cross the line into terrorism even if we’re reluctant to use the T word with white people (e.g. charleston, charlottesville etc).

But even if it meant Islamic terrorism that’s not a threat. That’s saying that many such groups are *trying *to provoke a war of religions. Nothing could advance their cause more than the President implying it’s “us” versus “them”.

Because people don’t read things with big words and statistics. They watch a misleading video, cry “ALL MUSLIMS ARE TRYING TO KILL US!”, then crawl back under their rock to ignore all evidence to the contrary. The President is one of them.
