As David Gergen pointed out today, psychologists know it is common for someone to project onto someone else undesirable characteristics perceived in oneself.
That’s because for narcissists and people living in complete and utter denial, if you see it as a quality in yourself, you naturally assume everyone is just like that too. That way, it becomes a universal human trait instead of a pernicious idiosyncratic one.
You reminded me of an article in New York Magazine authored by Frank Rich - excellent, excellent article, as are many of Rich’s works. Well-researched and a pretty colorful sketch of his subject(s). In this case, the subject is Roy Cohn.
Well worth the read. Among other things, it talks about the mob’s proximity to the Trumpian / Cohn orbit, and when you read this article (and some of Rich’s others), it starts to make sense. James Comey said that Trump is like a mafia boss, and it’s easy to see why. It also makes clear the fact that Trump, despite being a ‘novice’ politician, was deep into the New York political system - had to be in order to get some of his deals done. I think casual observers and armchair pundits get Trump wrong when they assume that he’s dumb and knows nothing about politics. He actually knows a lot. He wasn’t lying when he said that he’s worked politicians and knows how the system works. He knows how to game it. He knows its corruption. Voters and pundits got punked in 2016 because Trump didn’t have the look and feel of the usual politician begging for votes. Trump is a throwback to the days of Tammany Hall.
I have long thought Small-Hand Chump was a 19th-century politician and not just a 1950s throwback like many think.
Simple. See, Thanksgiving and Christmas [excuse me - - HOLIDAYS*] are coming up, and Americans are going to be expected to eat a lot of turkey, which comes from Turkey (duh). If we all patriotically cut back on turkey, Turkay’s main source of income will take such a hit that their economy will go into a tailspin, and they’ll be begging us to let them release our wonderful Pastor.
I fact they’ll probably imprison a few more Pastors, just so they can be seen releasing them to build up goodwill.
Oops, I forgot the footnote.
- RESIST! BOO-YAH!
The Twitterrhea keeps flowing:
At least he’s giving us some good band name material.
“Thugs”? Seriously? We are talking about lawyers, right?
democrat lawyers
Not just lawyers, career prosecutors. The kind of people most Republicans pretend to respect.
<Doctor Phil voice> So Trumpy Wumpy how’s that workin’ for ya?

At this point, I’d say Tailgunner Joe had more class than this dipshit. And that’s a fucking LOW bar.
Funny, because Meuller and a LOT of the FBI are Republicans ![]()

Hillary Clinton defrauded perjury?
She’s a crafty one. ![]()
Finally breaking his silence regarding yesterday’s cataclysmic events, Trump manages to say something true:
Also, you know, an admission against his own interests that his other attorneys would probably prefer that he kept his mouth shut about, but hey. I’m usually terrified by these, a little amusement once and a while is all right by me.
I’m frankly astonished that we still haven’t seen him spew forth a firestorm of explosive Twitterrhea.
