Butt-Hurt Trump Takes to Twitter Again (Part 1)

Great that Jeff is not influenced by political considerations. But look into “the other side”. What a fucking dumbass.

Sessions should just come out and ask “Just how stupid are you Mr. President?”

The Department of Justice will not be improperly influenced by political considerations, now go forth and use the Department of Justice for investigations which I have improperly influenced by political considerations.

Was that from Twitter?? Is that how the chucklefuck communicates with the Attorney General? By fucking Twitter?

I get the feeling Sessions is staying on purpose, not because he’s having a great time but because he has probably grown to despise Trump and wants to rub shit in his face.

Jeff Sessions is many things, many of them not particularly good in my book. I think he’s - how shall I put it - biased toward certain groups of people. I think he’s bought into anti-immigration hysteria. I think he’s outwardly pious while inwardly callous. But despite all of these traits, I think he’s demonstrated at least some shred of personal integrity by initially recusing himself in the first place and also by standing with his law enforcement community.

Look, I get that there’s no getting around the reality that there’s politics in every agency, and agencies’ internal politics shift to some extent based on whoever’s at the top. I never made the assumption that the Department of Justice are completely apolitical, but the policies come from the top and then the career civil servants and deputy officials carry out that mission within the boundaries of the law. I think Sessions wanted to approach this job in the same spirit as John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonzales, both of whom were problematic in my view, but nevertheless respected the political and institutional norms (most of the time) of the DoJ, FBI, etc, and more importantly, they respected the rule of law (most of the time). I get the sense that Sessions maybe wanted to be known as the 2018 version of John Ashcroft on steroids - Ashcroft on steroids. But he still wanted to be viewed as a legitimate Attorney General, not an inconsequential stooge serving at the behest of a tinpot dictator wannabe in a banana republic.

I also think that from Sessions’ point of view, loyalty goes both ways. Trump betrayed the first member of the Senate to support him, which was politically risky business at that time. Sessions feels betrayed. Sessions is Old South, and treachery is not something he’s conditioned to take very well.

Yep. Twitter.

I have the sense that the Alabama Elf would beat the shit out of Trump if he said any of this stuff to his face.

Sell tickets to this, I’d buy one (or several).

Honestly, I think Trump would kick Sessions’ ass. He’s got a pretty good size advantage on the little guy.

Dialogue from Get Trump (2018):

Donald Trump: [blocking Session’s path] Listen, I don’t like it when some tough nut comes pushin’ his way in and out of the White House in the middle of the night! Bloody well tell me who sent you!

Jeff Sessions: You’re a big man, but you’re in bad shape. With me it’s a full time job. Now behave yourself.

[Trump takes a swing at Sessions, who grabs his hand, punches him, and then slaps him in the face for good measure]

Jack Carter: [as he’s leaving] Goodnight, Mrs. Trump.
OK, maybe needs a bit of work.

How about antique pistols at dawn on the banks of the Potomac? But who would thump get to be his second? For that matter, who would Sessions get?

shrug why not ? That’s how international diplomacy works now. Just roll with it.

True. And most importantly, I think, is that though Nixon was a fairly racist guy, he kept that from the public. He was an architect of the highly-racist Southern Strategy, but the racism was all dog-whistle. Nothing out in the open.

Who knows what might have happened in the 1970s had Nixon realized that open racism could win him the undying support of 25% of the country and the unconditional surrender of Congress, who would simply abdicate their duty to provide checks and balances to the Executive branch.

Back then, everyone believed that open racism was a deal breaker in politics. George Wallace was a spoiler in the elections he participated in, but no one thought he had any remote chance of winning. But of course that was a world in which a vibrant middle class still existed and the American Dream was a real thing; a large percentage of whites back then certainly resented non-whites, but they were fortified by genuine hope for their futures and for the futures of their children.

In Nixon’s time, that quarter of the electorate were much less likely to see white supremacism as their only hope—the way a large proportion of 21st century whites are indeed quite likely to do.

Yesterday, Trump tweeted what was basically an ad promoting himself.

I watched that with a bunch of people from work and we all laughed at how he sounds like a used car salesman. Well today someone has gone and run with that idea!

I thought the banjo music was a nice touch, too.

4.1? Does he mean 401K? Doesn’t he have an editor?

I’ve been wondering about that myself. I wonder if it’s like “823”?

Heh.

“1-877-NO-COLLUSION”

Brilliant.

It is possible that he was referring to the 4.1 percent of unemployment that was like that until the further reductions of the past months.

Of course when he promises that the number will go higher than that…

:smack:

The administration has been touting the 4.1% growth in the economy since Trump became POTUS for several months now. Contrary to his claims, it’s not some sort of record…Obama posted 4 quarters of his term with growth that was larger (over 5%, I believe, in one quarter).

Is there any reasonable possibility that the Trump/Sessions twitter war is being staged? I don’t really follow all these tweets that closely, but it just seems really odd that they would go at each other like that.

I can’t believe that Twitter has become a legitimate way for government officials to communicate with each other! This truly blows my mind. It’s immature and undignified and just stupid. They might as well be communicating by lobbing spitballs back and forth.

Re the thump video (which I didn’t watch)-- maybe after he’s out of office he can get a job on a late-night movie channel selling the Sham-Wow!
