Bah. Knowledge is bad for trump. He may understand that. “Big Tech” is sort of a silly way to describe it as Ford and GM and Exxon are “Big Tech”.

But, his followers think cars and energy production is easy and not “Big Tech”. Big Tech are things they don’t understand. They think they know what building cars and creating gasoline involves (they don’t). They are quite sure that the evil internet is spreading false information. They know how to drive a car and burn gas. They don’t understand the internet, and as it’s not generally supporting them, it must be evil.

They don’t give a shit how it works; they just know that it spreads information and Republicans and conservatives don’t live in a fact-based world. I think it’s hard for Americans to imagine that they could live in a country in which social media are regulated by the federal government, but if things continue on their current trajectory, then that is the kind of society in which we will live.

I know, I know – surely, Trump wouldn’t be dumb enough to try to regulate Silicon Valley, which is one of the sources of our economic growth. Surely he understands the kind of damage that overregulating industries, especially technology, might cause, right?

No.

The fact is that authoritarians make absolutely fucking thicker than pigshit decisions and surround themselves with dipshits – and get reelected. Christ, look at Turkey. In the 2000s, Erdogan actually had economic advisers who knew what the fuck they were doing. Then he decided he wanted to be the Chairman Mao of Turkey and has surrounded himself with morons - and yet the fucker still gets reelected. Why? Because most voters in a democracy are also thicker than pig shit and don’t understand that making X great again means voting against their own self interest.

Except CNN’s story was bout Cohen/Davis saying that Trump knew about it - it was not directly saying that Trump DID know about it.

The best way to get out of this mess and to see that it doesn’t happen again is to show that it will not be stood for. We WILL abide by the rule of law. Criminals will be prosecuted. Treacherous people will answer for their deeds.

This isn’t revenge. I couldn’t care less about the man, his family or fortune. This is a learning and teaching exercise. And hopefully, a way to keep our country and constitution intact.

If we don’t do this, it will be repeated again and again. And soon.
