The word “tape” as a verb referring to the making of audio or video recordings, while somewhat anachronistic, survives and I’m not surprised to hear trump use it as he is in his seventies. What word is used by the younger set to describe this action? Is there even one? “Videoed” would work, but “audioed” doesn’t seem to be an actual word.
Record?
I know that one! Its a fragile plastic disc that stores a miniscule amount of music! (My folks had some.)
That’s all well and good, but what do they think of him NOW?
I can’t argue with that.
They (the fans) are actively and loudly supporting what I see as a total affront to this country and its constitution. They screamed “Lock her up”. They support a state (“christian” hahahaha yeah right) religion. They want to remove judges who uphold the law and the constitution. They want their orange retard to have absolute power. And they approve of him making secret deals with the tyrants in Russia. The applaud his multiple bankruptcies and refusals to pay his people as “smart business” They cheer his pussy grabbing. They like repubs in Congress gutting programs that help people so as to further enrich the already wealthy. They want voter suppression. Some ranted that if Trump lost, they would start a rebellion.
These are the same people who in turn accused us of treason for questioning and criticizing George W, and then they wanted to lynch Obama.
I think traitor is a fitting word for them. They gleefully shit on everything this damn place was SUPPOSEDLY founded on.
Traitor might not be the best word. What is the right term for someone who voted for an obviously unqualified, ignorant, asshole to be president of the United States? It’s unforgivable and deplorable.
I know exactly one person IRL who admits voting for Trump, and she’s from Russia and a big fan of Putin.
It’s true that not all Trump fans are traitors. Some of them are just mental deficients. But all of them voted for a Russian agent and the vast majority of them continue to cheer him on. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no meaningful daylight between the traitors and the ones who are just too stupid to notice that they’re supporting a traitor.
Just because this or that Trump fan is someone’s mommy doesn’t change their actions.
This, damn it.
The ones who cheer him on - there’s something wrong with them. I can’t understand being that willfully blind to what’s going on. The ones cackling about delicious liberal tears as wave after wave of highly questionable news comes out of DC - there’s something wrong there. People who voted for him out of anger (and when was the last time you did something smart pout of anger) but now are questioning what they have done - I wouldn’t say that they are traitors.
Those underlined are not the ones I’m talking about. You KNOW the ones I mean.
“Recorded” is what I’d use.
I always say I “talked with” people when our communication was via text messages. My gf has questioned the correctness of this.
Pretty much this except I would not put the Republican Party on the same level as the Nazi Party or Isis … yet. That’s very likely due to a lack of opportunity on their part. They’re like Nazi wannabes. Give them half a chance …
We still “dial” push button telephones.
Those people have been fed on lies for so long they have no idea what the truth looks like. All they know is that everything they’ve ever been promised has failed to come true, and that politicians are to blame. Politicians with their weasel words and vacant rhetoric. It’s not so very surprising that a large number of those people feel some ironic glee at the discomfort of mainstream politicians and the ones who support them, because an outsider has them flummoxed. They’ve been out in the cold, and now they have at least an illusion of some warmth.
For the most part I despise what passes for their ideals. But I don’t think their knees jerk any faster than any of yours. It’s thoughtfulness that’s lacking, in them and in you. You write like a spoiled little boy.
A bunch of actual Nazis were out last night, rallying around a confederate statue in Charleson, SC. They carried torches and chanted, “Russia is our friend” and Nazi slogan, “Blood and soil”.
This particular statue is the one that Republican Corey Stewart, who is running for governor of Virginia, is getting all verklempt about. Stewart worked on Trump’s campaign for a while.
I’d play the “connect the dots, sheeple!” card, but fuck it. It’s all just one giant wart.
You’re right. That’s the least.
It starts with silencing the press. He is already attempting to do this with musing about no more press conferences. He shall issue his decrees from his Twitter balcony like the Wizard of Id.
Stupid. That’s it.
I can’t get too worked up about the idea of no press conferences. I can barely remember a time in my adult life where i learned anything of real significance from the responses of a White House Press Secretary. This goes double for the current administration, where misdirection and spin have been replaced by outright falsehoods and shameless self-contradiction. Good political reporting shouldn’t, and generally doesn’t, rely on information provided by the administration’s official spokespeople. Sean Spicer’s appearances make for unintended comedy, but they don’t actually advance our understanding in any meaningful way.
But that’s exactly it. Everyone is someone’s mommy or son or uncle or sister. They’re human beings, too. Or have you never loved someone in spite of their faults? We can’t just write off half the nation as a lost cause. If we get to that point, America is lost (even more lost than it is now, I mean). We can’t afford to stay this deeply divided, and that means at some point we will have to approach the “other side” and do our best to reconcile with them.
Honestly, it’s like living on a separate planets. I look at the news, and it’s not just different opinions any more, it’s different facts. Really, there’s very little people really know personally. For instance, I’m no economist. I “know” that tax cuts for wealthy has borked the economy every time it’s been tried because I read it in the New York Times. My mother “knows” that it’s been a wildly successful strategy, because she read it in the Wall Street Journal. And these are considered moderate, respectable newspapers. Is it any wonder that we have two entirely different ideas about what’s going on in Washington? Our sources can barely agree that the sky is blue.
