Some time ago there was a thread about mercury (Hg). Anyway, I thought I’d start a new one.
Is there any supplier that will ship it? Basically I want to build a homemade mercury barometer with a 36" glass tube with a ¼" inside diameter. I estimate this would require about one and a half pounds of mercury (allowing for a “well” of mercury at the bottom). (I plan on putting this in an appropriate glass and wooden case, etc.)
Since Sept 11, 2001 I am afraid a lot of companies might be wary of shipping mercury. However, is there anyone on the SDMB that has ordered it or knows how it can be ordered ?

Now I’m curious how many mercury suppliers there are in the United States, since adirondack_mike’s is the same brand I always buy merely resold by a different company.
I know they ship to home, because I don’t have it shipped to work. Too many people get upset by a little mercury. It’s okay to have it here, but we just can’t receive for some strange reason. And yeah, I’ve caused industrial accidents with it.
