Buying Software Online

I shop online all the time for books, clothes, etc. I’ve even shopped for software before, but for the life of me I cannot remember where.

Where is a good place to buy software online? (I’ve ruled out Babbages, CompUSA, Egghead, and Download.com - they don’t have what I want.)

Depends what kind of software you are after. Can I assume you’re not one of those impulsive software window shoppers just looking for something to catch your eye?

If so, go to download.cnet.com , you may be pleasantly surprised to find that what you need is available for free. If it’s not free, you’ll probably be directed to the vendor’s download site.

Looking for a game? Do a web search for games or whatever you’re after and you’ll probably be hit with a sales pitch before you can say tiddly-winks.

If you’re looking for something reasonably well known, like Adobe Photodeluxe or McAfee Virus Scan, just go directly to the vendor’s web site and transact your business there.

Go to Yahoo’s main search page and select the Computers & Internet link; just make sure you have your hip boots on.

I have had good luck with:
http://www.beyond.com http://www.buy.com http://www.egghead.com (even though you tried)

Also, you can purchase direct, although not recommended I usually find I can get it cheaper from an on line retailer.

What title are you looking for?

ebay.com for the cheapest prices
