By regularly feeding scraps to this stray dog, am I taking moral responsibility for it?

I managed to miss this thread until you linked to it in your follow-up thread, but I’ve just read it all through and I wanted to let you know that you’re good people, Skald. That dog was lucky to have yapped at you.

Although the situation has now been dealt with, if I may still chime in on the basic question, I think that problems should be solved by those who see them (and can realistically do something about them). I don’t think that you have a moral obligation to roam the streets looking for stray animals and the like, but if one presents itself in front of you, you do have a moral obligation not to look away. You behaved admirably. I’m proud of you.
