Bye, Opal

I’ve been gone for quite a while, and I come back to this. Damn.

Bye Opal.

I was on vacation much of March, so I completely missed this. I’ve “known” her since the AOL days, and I’m really shocked at her passing. I’ll always remember her passion and creativity. I don’t know if creativity begets demons or demons beget creativity, but she had more than her share of both.

I don’t wish peace upon Katherine. She was far too young and vibrant for me to want to put in a field of flowers, surrounded by harp-wielding angels. No, I hope she’s rocking it out in some cosmic alternate universe, churning those creative juices, and maybe occasionally flashing those demons of hers.

Rock on, OpalCat.

My condolences to Opal’s family and friends.

It’s been a long time. I still have your coffee cup. God Bless you Opal.

I just found out. It’s sad when friends you’ve known for what seems like forever leave you. :frowning:

Esprix

'Bout time you got your butt back here.

Helluva reason to pop my head back in, but thanks - it’s nice to know some of us old fogeys are still around.

Esprix

There’s a name I haven’t seen in a while. Hi!

Esprix!

Yes we are still here. We have been waiting for you. Bout time you got here.

Yep. We’re still here. And mourning (still) one of our own.

I’m not here anymore…

It’s like a family reunion; how the only time you get to see your cousins and aunts and uncles is when someone gets married or dies, and after a while, there’s a whole lot more funerals than weddings. :frowning:

Just stopping by to say ‘hi’ to my fellow old-timers. Hard to believe I’ve been hanging around this loony-bin for 14 years!

14 years? That is really sad.

Esprix, RT!

You’re right, it’s a heckofa reason to return to the SDMB. But it’s nice to see you and know you’re still going strong.

Doug

Hey! Who ya callin’ an old fogey, young whippersnapper?

Well, just found out about OpalCat. I only knew her from SDMB, but I always enjoyed her posts, and her attitude. I hope for the best for her family, especially her son. I feel that she is a person who struggled heroically to be an artist in a world that don’t particularly like artists. A shame she’s gone.

I just found out about Opal’s passing.

I did not know her, except for the SDMB. Somehow, though, she has been a part of my life for a very long time, just because she posted here.

I first started posting so long ago that I can’t remember my original user name. I stopped because someone made me mad and I decided to move along. But Opal was always here.

It says something about her that so many have posted. So many names I remember.

Bless Opal and her family. And thank you all for participating in an:

  1. interesting
  2. infuriating
  3. and amusing message board.

Bye Opal.

Just finished popping some of Opal’s ‘bubble wrap’. (Yep, it’s still there!:))
Gone, but not forgotten.
