There are (or were when I was in) Jodies in the Marine Corps, and the Army. Jody was a civilian who was messing with the girlfriend, usually Susie, of the soldier/Marine/airman/sailor who went off to Boot Camp.
Root term, “Joe the Grinder” from about 1939, the military version was WWII.
Susie Rottencrotch, IIRC.
The Air Force used the term “cadence” in basic training in the winter of 1994/95. Also, I’ve never heard the term “Jodie” as a replacement for cadence.
