I can dig that.
I’ll zing them a note right now.

I see Dr. Matrix has experience with IT in a brokerage. That’s Rick’s area, too, so I will have him look at the resume tonight. I don’t think there is anything in Detroit (who wants to relocate here, anyway/) but maybe in St. Pete.
In the meantime, Scotti, you sent us a paypal donation when we were doing the heart walk. We included it in the sum, but never redeemed it. We will send it back to you tonight for the current good cause. I like how nicely that all fits together.
I’ve pinged a friend who works in NYC in financial computing type things.
We’ll see what comes of that.
Getting the Downunder mob onto it now. I might need several days.
Paypalled.
The Federal government, which employs me, has a hard time keeping enough IT professionals to keep its systems going. And while you won’t make megamillions working for the feds, one can make a pretty comfortable living working for the government.
Most of the Federal jobs are in the DC area, of course. But the Feds paid to relocate me to the area, and I think that’s still SOP for positions advertised to the outside world. This site’s the official gateway site for searching for Federal jobs:
There are also unofficial sites, such as:

I can’t send anything right this minute, but should be able to very soon. You will both be in my prayers as well. Hang in there, we care.

I’m in. Folks that try so hard to keep their heads above water deserve to get a break. I’ll sort out my contribution, and that of another Kiwi, via TheLoadedDog and the G’Dope Board.
I’ve e-mailed DrMatrix a link to jobs at my friends firm in NYC.
Sending you guys positive energy.
And to add to RT’s post, there are scads of areas around here that are very close to public transportation (in fact, there was an article in the Post about carless communities).
Come to think of it, we have an opening for “Advertising Sales.”
Unfortunately, my doctors don’t think I’ll be able to work any time in the near future . . . if at all. They’re presently trying to get me on SSI.
We can’t thank you folks enough for what you’re doing for us in our time of great need.
Holy crap!
I wish the Quad City Dopers got together more often like other areas, and I feel like garbage for not finding out one of ours is in a sticky situation until it’s gotten this far.
I am a busy mom, but anything you need help with during the week I am more than willing to help with.
Rides to appointments or just rides to get away for a while.
During the day while the heathens are in school I have tons of free time, and if you don’t mind children I can arrange things after school as well.
Not thinking that you would mind children, but if you aren’t used to them being around and aren’t feeling the best and stressed out I can make arrangements to make sure that isn’t an added stress. They are good kids, but can be overwhelming at times.
I have a meeting at work tomorrow and will check to see if we are hiring in the offices at all either here or other Kraft plants. I have access through the work computers about corporation job offers through all the sister companies and such.
I can also drop off a few food stuffs since I get them in bulk at work and always have extras to share. As a matter of fact hubby will probably be gratefull to have a bit more space in the freezer.
Alright, I’ll send out an e-mail and we can exhange numbers so we can get this figured out.
Scotti, I could have sworn I had you on my IM list somewhere, but don’t see you now. Drop me a line when you get a minute and let me know if there is anything I can do from here. I’m just a few minutes from them actually. I’ll let you e-mail me so that way I don’t waste e-mail space that others can use.
I can’t afford to send any financial aid but I am sending good thoughts to both of them and here is a link to a great job site… create an online profile and apply for everything that you could settle for to get your foot in the door…

Paypal is our friend. Lord knows I can spare a few bucks - it’s the least I can do.
As kind as many Dopers have been with my Book Fairy project I am compelled to do the same for this situation.
Paypal on it’s way.
How much are you up to so far? I hope that’s not a nosy question.
Also, I think I have a few spare phone cards I bought for a trip that I didn’t use. I would be happy to send them along if someone would provide me a place to send them.
Mail Scotticher@aol.com and she can tell you where to send them. I’m sure they can be very useful for calling about potential jobs or contacts!
Um.

Granted, the Canadian dollar’s still only worth 75% of a US dollar, but you wouldn’t turn it down, wouldja?
Welllllll, there was this from the OP:
:smack: :o
Donation on its way…
