Cajun Man and DrMatrix Need Our Help!

Bump.

Good Luck.

Happy Holidays.

Scotti, e-mail on the way.
WhereamI, are you a Kraft employee as well? Drop me a line.
As for looking for an office job through Kraft or Phillip Morris, I can’t find the site. The one I found a few months ago was on our company server. I’ll call my supervisor this afternoon and see if he can get me the site or tell me if I have to do it through work. (I’m very computer illiterate, sorry)

Y’know, dopers pull together and take care of their own…think of what we could do if we wanted to take over the world! The rebellion would be squashed with the first mention of pie but dang…

I wish I could contrbute something more than good wishes. How about some lottery tickets

Donation willingly made. Wish i was on that side of the Pond so I could do more.

For what its worth, i’d second RTFirefly’s suggestion of government work as an avenue worth investigating - its not as highly paid as private-sector IT work, but the security and benefits make up for it, and the difficulties they have in holding on to staff give you a slightly higher chance of succeeding as an applicant.

Obviously requirements and recruiting techniques vary on your side of the pond, but for what its worth i’m actively involved in the recruitment of techies for the British Government, and am more than happy to provide general advice, hints or tips (that i’m sure will still apply on that side of the atlantic) on applying/interviewing as a techie for government jobs. Email in Profile.

Best of luck!

Hey, don’t knock lottery tickets as gifts, Shirley. They’re practical yet alluring!

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

And tonight I am thankful for…a total of $3145.00! Woo Hoo!!

$3145? Wow! That’s a pretty nice gaming PC right there!

What?

Say, garius, think there’s be any openings over there for a tech writer with six years experience in a FrameMaker/RoboHelp environment, who can claim Right of Abode in the UK? Just… wondering.

d_redguy and I both just wanted to say that we wish we could contribute, (We’re pretty strapped ourselves, atm.) and we’re incredibly proud to be Dopers. You guys are amazing, epecially when it comes to helping others.

Best Wishes, Cajun Man and DrMatrix!

I’ve had the fun honor of having dinner with both the good Dr. and the humorous and genteel Cajun Man. It was a few years back on one of Billdo’s Thursday evening dinners.

The amount of genuine warmth and kindness that is exuded by both of these gentlemen is more than enough reason to want to step up in any way I can. Also, Cajun made me laugh till I had soda pop coming out my nose.

Phone cards, and some thought on employment. And heartfelt wishes for some light.

Kricket, yes, I’m a Kraft employee too. I do believe that you would probably have to connect to the site you’re talking about via a computer at work. Since I left the warehouse in our facility I no longer have access to the computers so I’m of no help there. I’ll check some of the sites I know of on this end and see if I can come up with anything.

I went to http://www.kraft.com/careers/ However, when I clicked on the USA link I got an error msg. The server might be down because of the time, don’t know.
Another link that might be helpful is PM USA Homepage - PM USA Hope this helps.

I wish I could donate something, but I rold you how much money I had in my checking account you guys might set up a donation for me :p.

Seriously, though, I do live in an area where some tech jobs are opening up (the Albany, NY area.) SUNY Albany is putting in a new center for something or other, and I’m sure a computer science whiz such as DrMatrix has a chance. I’ll look around for the job liustings and send them your way.

bouv, our friends desperately want to find a way to support themselves. Any help you can give that might help in that endeavor is MORE than welcome! Things had unfortunately gotten to the point where they needed financial help just to survive, but in the long run…a job is going to be their salvation.

And we all sincerely hope that things improve for YOU, too… immediately if not sooner.

Once again, thanks for all the good wishes, prayers and job leads. And thank you so much also for the financial help. Which at this moment stands at $3445.00!!!

THANK YOU!!!

This reminds me of the chick that had to raise $2000 to pay off her credit cards. It took all of six months for her to get it. The SDMB is obviusly more powerful than the rest of the internet. I salute you Dopers.
I wish I could send something else besides my heartfelt best wishes, but I’m kinda strapped right now. Here’s hoping that everything will work out allright.

Well, it is a TAD bit different, in that no credit card debt is involved. This is a situation where someone lost their job, wasn’t able to find another, and lived off their savings for over two years. They aren’t asking for help because they ran UP debt, they are asking for help because they weren’t willing to go INTO debt, instead choosing to live off savings…hoping and planning to get a job before they got to the end of said savings. Sadly, this didn’t happen.

I would not personally be involved with this effort if it was the same thing as the woman who asked for help paying off debt of her own creation. And I doubt that anyone here would be giving, many of them more than they can comfortably afford, to help a person who was in trouble through their own irresponsibility.

But your heartfelt best wishes are appreciated, and I hope things work out for you soon as well.

Sorry Scotticher, I didn’t mean to sya it was the same thing. There are some fundamental differences, mostly that Cajunman and DrMatrix hold a much higher place in my esteem than what’s-her-name. They were not irresponsible, they just fell on hard times. Happens to the best of us.

Thanks to you for your wellwishes as well, I’m getting there.

Thank you, Chavardz… I might have been a bit defensive there, but I just didn’t want anyone to misunderstand THIS situation with THAT one. Apples and turtles, you know?

Well, today’s mail brought help from several MORE wonderful people, bringing our total to $3580.00!

THANK YOU!!!

Just a note about Dr Matrix’s CV. There needs to be details about what he’s been doing since 2001. To me as is, this screams, “I’ve been in prison.”- I got asked this with a only 2 month gap on my CV. Put down what charitable work you’ve done!
