OK, I’ll have you know I didn’t commit murder or pummelling or other infliction of pain and suffering on a certain naval officer, but I sure wanted to. Why, you ask? Because my project, which has been in various and sundry phases of editing till Monday when it was finally signed off by everyone, was then looked at by said naval officer. Yes, he could have reviewed it at any time along the process, but he chose to wait till the end. Then he wanted changes. Many changes, including some that involved me changing back things that I’d changed at the direction of my Senior Engineer.
Murder-Death-Kill!!!
Anyway, he and said Senior Engineer came to my interim cubicle and he told me what was wrong :rolleyes: with my analysis and I explained, in more diplomatic terms, that he was a stupid ass if he couldn’t understand what I’d written in very plain English and illustrated with a simple table of figures. I further explained for the gazillionth time how the project was defined 6 months ago when we started. Yes, it could have been done differently. It could have been done better. But the bottom line is my instructions were to produce what I have produced!!!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
And yes, there were a couple of things he was correct about - I had no problem clarifying them. After all, I’m too close to the project and I know all the background and assumptions, but he was right - not all the readers of the final web site will know all that. So I helped one of my underlings explain where one of our figures came from (other than saying I pulled it out of my butt) and I put our conclusions on the first page so those who just wanted an answer would find it right off, and I changed my writeup to be more of a narrative, which is what I did in the first place until SE told me to change it…
Whew. Anyway, it’s done, and I sent him a link so he could review it again. But I had wanted to take tomorrow off, and now I can’t. He wants this done so it can be uploaded on Monday. No big - I think I can still bail out at lunch tomorrow.
End of rant. Stoopit naval officer.
Other than that, it’s rainy and mild. My back still aches a little. We’re having rotissed chickie for dinner - not sure which rub or sauce I’ll use - maybe BBQ?? And there’s still no chocolate in the house. Obviously, my legions of fans are slacking off with their love offerings. Things could get ugly…
<sigh>
No, I’m fine. Really. I am.
<sigh>
