Cake and Cashmere (Or Not) - A Crafty MMP

OK, I’ll have you know I didn’t commit murder or pummelling or other infliction of pain and suffering on a certain naval officer, but I sure wanted to. Why, you ask? Because my project, which has been in various and sundry phases of editing till Monday when it was finally signed off by everyone, was then looked at by said naval officer. Yes, he could have reviewed it at any time along the process, but he chose to wait till the end. Then he wanted changes. Many changes, including some that involved me changing back things that I’d changed at the direction of my Senior Engineer.

Murder-Death-Kill!!!

Anyway, he and said Senior Engineer came to my interim cubicle and he told me what was wrong  with my analysis and I explained, in more diplomatic terms, that he was a stupid ass if he couldn’t understand what I’d written in very plain English and illustrated with a simple table of figures. I further explained for the gazillionth time how the project was defined 6 months ago when we started. Yes, it could have been done differently. It could have been done better. But the bottom line is my instructions were to produce what I have produced!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

And yes, there were a couple of things he was correct about - I had no problem clarifying them. After all, I’m too close to the project and I know all the background and assumptions, but he was right - not all the readers of the final web site will know all that. So I helped one of my underlings explain where one of our figures came from (other than saying I pulled it out of my butt) and I put our conclusions on the first page so those who just wanted an answer would find it right off, and I changed my writeup to be more of a narrative, which is what I did in the first place until SE told me to change it…

Whew. Anyway, it’s done, and I sent him a link so he could review it again. But I had wanted to take tomorrow off, and now I can’t. He wants this done so it can be uploaded on Monday. No big - I think I can still bail out at lunch tomorrow.

End of rant. Stoopit naval officer.

Other than that, it’s rainy and mild. My back still aches a little. We’re having rotissed chickie for dinner - not sure which rub or sauce I’ll use - maybe BBQ?? And there’s still no chocolate in the house. Obviously, my legions of fans are slacking off with their love offerings. Things could get ugly…

<sigh>

No, I’m fine. Really. I am.

<sigh>

::shoves chocolate through the CD drive quickly to FCM:: Here, you can have mine. In fact, from here on, you can have all of my chocolate. It should be eaten by those who will appreciate it.

Having a nasty day today. I was an hour late to work because I really just didn’t want to get out of bed. I’m being stubborn about calling my therapist, too, because, well, I don’t know why. Stupid brain chemistry. Can I have a new one, please? This one’s defective.

Thanks, Jah!

And may I be so bold as to say that your brain isn’t nearly as defective as that of one certain naval officer. That doesn’t sound too reassuring does it??

No, I’m not stewing over this. I’m not I’m not I’m not!!!

FCM, you better share!

We just went out and had our picture took with the ice cream lickin’ bear. I think it’ll be a jake Christmas postcard thing. At least it’ll be neat to have a picture standing in front of him.

I’m being taken out for Chinese food tonight. I feel so special. Ok, there’s a coupon involved, but still, dinner out in the middle of the week and I ain’t payin’ for it, so it’s special.

FCM do a Cajun rub on the chicken. That’s what I’m imagining I’ll do when I do rotiss me a chicken in my new toy. Maybe after the accreditation folks are gone next week I can finally play with it.

Bugger me!

Started off as a nice slow day and then in the last couple of hours it has degraded into a freakin’ free-for-all. Fully 75% of all of my calls have happened in the last half of this afternoon, and they have all happened just far enough part to make me think I’ve got a few moments of peace so I can maybe surf the dope a litRING RING!

Okay, so it’s hardly the sort of bad day that’s been going around elsewhere today, I just wanted to join in the venting. I’ve less than an hour to go with my day so my mood can begin to improve.

And there goes the damn phone again. Excuse me while I go find a hammer…

We are getting a recipe, right?

Sounds like you guys have the election stuff handled. The vote’s so close here that they’re counting the absentee ballots in some precincts, including mine, in Virginia Beach. My vote is being counted! I’m excited! Also, I think it’s awesome that Virginia is the swing state right now, since everyone else’s results are in and the Senate majority all depends on who wins our race. Even more excitement!

I’m recovering from Election Day. Those of us in the Young Dems drove around the city, starting at 3:30 am, putting up Webb and Vote No (on the so-called marriage amendment) signs (making sure to block Allen and Vote Yes signs whenever possible, of course). Then, we went to Denny’s, then off to various polling places. Most of them were pushing for Webb, but not being his biggest fan, I managed to get to work with the Vote No people instead. At 5:45 am, we showed up at the polling place we were assigned, realized there was a mix-up, drove to the one we were supposed to be at across the city, and handed out literature. The Vote Yes folks were rather upset, as they hadn’t been expecting us, and their main guy kept glaring at us. After a few hours of freezing doing that, we headed back to campus for classes. That night, we drove up to Tyson’s Corner for Webb’s party, which was awesome. I finally got to bed around 2 am, 23 hours after I had gotten up. It was totally worth it, though, even if the amendment did pass.

I opted for honey mustard BBQ sauce. The chickie is rotissin’ away. In about a half hour, I’ll go cut up some N.O.T. to boil, per my sweetie’s request. I’ll find something green to serve on the side, too - mebbe sugar snap peas?

No dessert, tho. I’m thinking someone should take me to Bert’s for ice cream… We’ll see how that goes.

I’ll have to see if I can find it. But it was goooooood!

Tell her that since you live in Minnesota now, you have to follow the Canadian holidays, and therefore she missed it for this year.

There are some misguided folks out there, doggieb, who might say “same thing.” Not me, of course, since I own one of the little [del]runts[/del] sweeties.

Feeling much better after lunch. I decided to put some of the expensive psychotherapy to use and discovered - I already have what I want. Sigh. But the grass is so much greener over there. Over the septic tank, no doubt, as Erma Bombeck said. So I need to rearrange my thinking, easier said than done, but I will do it.

Also, my scarf recipient recieved her scarf today and really likes it. (My tote recipient didn’t care much for her tote.) So that was nice, too.

AC is transitioning to the new EA while the SOB is in the office. Right as he’s getting ready to leave for a client, AC asks in a nice, loud voice (I could hear her in my cube, 3 aisles away) “You’re going to give me a good review, right?” They had to hire somebody else to do the job that she was specifically hired for and she expects a good review? His response was muffled, but I worked with him for over 3 years and I understand his tone perfectly, even 3 aisles away. He was…diplomatic in his response. She gave a nervous laugh, so he may have pierced her rhino hide for once. Today is a sad, sad day for our senior managers. They are not happy campers. However, hell hath no fury like a senior manager whose deadlines didn’t get met, so NC and I are going to sit back and enjoy the show.

I love chihuahuas, and small rat-dogs in general. However, my landlord doesn’t allow dogs and I like my cheap rent.

You are very grateful for the small pleasures of life.

<snerk>in bed

I mentioned Halloween pictures last week, but never got a chance to get them up in the Halloween pic threads. So here they are now, me as Dr. who and after a 30 second switch, me as a very incorrect but stereotypical Sherlock Holmes.

For the record, the honey-mustard-BBQ chickie was yummmmm. But **FCD ** is too pooped to take me out for ice cream. Oh well… Another time.

Wonder if there are any more fudgesicles in the freezer??

Wee! Someone just dropped by to pick up their eBay purchase. Money is good. Especially when person that won it for $176 was the one that killed the $124.95 buy-it-now. Nice to have karma on my side for a change. Now I’ve got enough to buy the Shure IEMs I’ve been chasing for several months. happy dance

I’m not big on small, shrill dogs. A dog ought to have an intimidating bark, and be large enough to put you off balance when it tries to hump your leg. But that’s just me.

nice, Ali, but that’s not an official Dr Who scarf - I have to find the picture of me in my Official 20 foot long 4th Doctor scarf (or maybe I’ll just take a new one and post that)

Hi back at ya, people who said hi to me. I’ve been stupid busy with work for the past month or so, but things are starting to calm down a bit, giving me some time to [del]post here again[/del] work at my desk. Life in the theatre (pronounced thee-A-ter) sure is fun.

The wife and I are talking about getting a dog. Unfortunately, she likes (and I mean this in the nicest way) ugly little dogs, and I like medium to big sized dogs like labs and goldens. It’s been pretty tricky trying to find something in the middle that’s also ok with living in a condo and hanging out with a couple cats all day. I’m sure we’ll figure something out. I’ll take suggestions if any of you cool kids have any…

I am very Grrrrrrr!!! today.
I was looking over the stores bank statement and found a charge on there for $215.00 from a company I didn’t recognize, so i called the company I thought it was and they said, “Nope. It wasn’t us.”. So then I called the bank, and they said “We can’t do anything about it until you call the company that placed the charge, here’s their phone number.” So I call the number, and sure enough, it was some company I never heard of.
Anyway, the receptionist said that I needed to talk to ‘Shelly’, but she wasn’t there, would I like her voice mail. So I left her a voice mail.
So far no call-back. If I don’t get an answer by early tomorrow, I guess I’ll call the bank back and dispute the charge.
I don’t have time for this!!!
